Hello Armorsmiths,
I have been looking for a full set of padded armor to purchase. The reason being is I often only play for an hour or so at a time soI dont bother getting buffedsoI am unable to wear a full set of comp, I also like to RPand I like the idea of a padded armor wearing BH, anyway, I was wondering whatthe stats may be on a set if you where to use the best resources you have. Money really isnt an issue so go wild with your response, I just would like an idea of what I will be recieving if I was to commision an AS to make me close to the best possiable.

If you don't get buffed much, forget about padded...in many instances it's just as heavy or heavier than comp anyway...believe it or not!
That's why nobody makes it (well...the informed 95% of us, at least)...it offers terrible protection forpretty much the same HAM as comp (maybe a little less, but you'd be shocked how heavy it is for what protection it offers, and I have some pretty amazing padded resources I've used in all of my experiments). In short...it's worthless...unless you just want to "look good"
...sorry...I'm just too practical for that

Comp is much better than padded, and can belighter if made well.... Find a vendor selling light 80% kin 60% ish base with ham just under the 500 mark, get a couple of sets and keep the enc slice, anyone can ware it unbuffed then.... HAM of like 275/250/275 is possible!

If you use light layers or NS layers, you can make the padded light enough to wear preslice. If you are looking for 80kin or 80 en for your BH, it will end up in the 600-700 range for encum preslice. You can, however, have 1 NS shard used on 6 of the pieces to substantially lower the encumbrance (knock 50-100+ off of a suit depending on how good your stray shards are). Add some good slices on thehelm and legs, and you can wear a full suit unbuffed without a problem.
Even as heavy as this stuff is, I have found it to be quite popular. Good encum slices will make even a non-enhanced kin or en suit wearable.
If you happen to be on ahazi, feel free to drop me a line - I have a padded showroom set up.

Find an armorer on your server that wants to make you a custom suit.. you can make padded light, if you forgo some resistance and use an imperial PSG to add more protection.. Me personally though i use chiten unbuffed you can get 60% kinetic,, or go with about 40% in kin and base,, also find a smuggler and hope for encum sliced,, ive had suits of padded with decent resist with about 300 ham chiten can hit 200-250 ham...
or one last thing you can go with is energy layer ubese. it goes about 50% kin and 40% energy,, 35% base and is about 350 ham,, under 300 wtih some encum slices,,
Hope this helps

If you are looking for decent padded, that is wearable unbuffed, you should start collecting Rancor Padded Armor Segments. Ive made a few sets for friends (I wear one myself from time to time), and you only need about half of the set to be enc sliced to get the HAMs under 400. If you can find Segments in the 25-30%range, those would be fantastic...but it should be fairly easy to find 20-25%base...which will get you around 50% kinetic/energy/electricity.

70-80% kinetic is possible with a base of around 50%. You do need to have good spawns of a number of named resources though.

I do custom padded (for trades) and like Ronne said, the HAM's are abominations. 77%kin (my current make) is as heavy as comp and is only for those who value looks over protections.

Two other points:
1) Condition is about half to two-thirds thatof comp, so it wears out quicker...
2) Therefore, I wouldn't even dream of puttung really nice attachments into it
...unless you happen to acquire some legendary acklay segments
