I guess chest plate is still the most hit, probably followed by pants. But not sure since combat log don't list which part is hit.

Leg/helmet are hit most, followed by chest and then biceps/bracers. In the end you will use up 9:5:1 ie 9 legs/helmets and 5 chests for every bicep.

It might depend on what you're fighting, but in my experience LEGS by a long shot.

From my testing when ever I am fighting creatures the legs ge hit the most with chest and head about equal but sometimes just a little more chest then head.

When I fight NPC, I seem to get hit in the head most followed by chest then leggs. But I have noticed it depends a little on what weapon the NPC is using, IE if they have a rifle I do get hit in head more, when they have a pistolI get the chest more and when they have a carbine it is sometimes leggs more. But again overall I seem to loose more on the helmet when fighting npc's.

In all instances the arms get hit the least.

Hmm that is a bit of surprise. I woudl have expected chest to be hit more often than legs and helmet. In pvp I would guess that helmet is hit most especially against Jedi (because saber head hit often used).

Maybe creatures are programmed to do more leg hits (the attack) than other attacks. Or maybe it still a random hit location but the probabilities changed. It might be there are 3 hit locations: head (covered by helmet), legs (pant) and body (chest+biceps/bracers) and 1/3 chance to hit each location. When hitting body chest might be weighted higher (let say 60% chest and 10% on each other part). Then chest would be hit less often than legs/helmet.

Add in specials directed to a certain part and it might favour one part even more (depending on creature/NPC).

The reason I am asking is that you might need to use two different armor. One for NPC/pvp with higher energy resists and another set with higher kinetic (in my case recon and assault). But I don't want to carry around 2 full different sets so for example only use one set of bicep/bracers will save some inventory space. Also have some armor with good AA in so I need to decide if I should refit it to assault or recon.

Someone did a brakedown on the %, to summurize it there is a 33% that Legs are hit, 33% head and 33% body, but the body area is divided into chest/biceps/bracers you you end up with only 16-17% hits to chest.

Yes that sounds possible. The change compared to pre-cu is probably that biceps/bracers/gloves was counted as one hit location - arms, but now the arm parts are counted as body. Probably because there is no arm hit attack.

I run around for a long time post-cu without any biceps/bracers and was not hit that often there (got hit though, evidence from combat log that no armor absorbed damage)

Btw, there are pve mobs that do energy damage. Two on Endor I discovered... at least one of the raptor types and now I don't remember the second (mites maybe). I remember being surprised on my crafter while surveying because I saw hits being absorbed by my PSG. Almost didn't get away in time because I was thinking "Wow, imagine that!"

I heard a rumor that creature ranged attacks are energy, while melee attacks are kinetic - is that consisent with what you saw on Endor?

Yes, that might be it. The raptors and mites are both ranged spitters.
