Hey Guys,
I Have been working on being an armorsmith for a while now, and i have been lookin at the forums and stuff. I'm kinda worried as every1 is on about being 12-point armor smith and force-sensative crafters. I ain't got the kinda money to buy tapes (well not yet anyway), and i doubt i'll be force sensative anytime soon. Is there any place in galaxies for the bog standard 10-point master armorsmith? Ne thoughs?

10 point smiths can survive, the key is resources, look around for the best on your server and ask some of your friends if they have any you can use, as of right now a 10 point smith can be equal to a 12 in effectivness but not in enc. with buffs the way they are right now, you can be fine with higher enc. armor at the same effectivness.

Resources matter far more than 12 points vs 10 (speaking as a newly minted 12-point smith). If you pay attention to your resources, your final product can be very sellable. Price your stuff reasonable (not 500K for a simple 80% resist suit) and make friends with those who can hunt you hides (and even offer them steep discounts for your armor). Cultivate your market and don't expect it to just appear overnight. Never ever expect to do 1mil days, let alone 5mil days, until you have been well-established for a while. Make Ubese armor by the truckload to work up your business, far too many of the 12-point and the only-make-the-armor-with-the-most-profit-margin smiths won't touch Ubese or Padded or Chitin or any of the rest. If you make those "lesser" armors you main focus with Composite on the side and don't charge Composite profits for them, then you will grow your business and be able to afford the tapes in time. Never stint on your quality, don't put throw away resources into any armor (unless you plan to sell it for trash prices). Be diligent about seeking out the best resources for everything (with the vendor/bazaar interface borked right now, this is even harder, I know, I spent a few hours looking through vendors today... looking for old spawn stuff, but I found some gems and am happy).
If you did the 2-day grind to get to master armorsmith and now expect the business to drop from the sky for you... then.. well... you will be highly disappointed. There are only 3 keys to "competing" in the AS profession: TIME, EFFORT, and DILIGENCE.

Now I, myself, have an alt 10 point AS. Unfortunately I do not have the grandest resources yet so my armor is less than tops. However I did notice that the recent patch hit the High end Comp, and it brings a slightly better chance since I think they lowered the cap, but didn't affect the assembly of the armor. I'm still working on testing this, and praying to go for some better spawn of materials.
And Ubese is a good starter for sales.

Ok. take this all with a rgain of salt. I have not begun to test this to be affirmative, but my guildmate who has high end armor described it as dropping to the mid 70s. When I checked the armor I made for myself which was 70kin/60 base (**edit**ty I know), I had not noticed a change in the armor.
This weekend I plan on testing a few pairs of gloves iwth previously run layers and new ones experimented to same properties and see what I come up with.
This of course could be him having armor with almost no condition and not realizing the resist had dropped. Hell...has anyone tried tests lately?

IMHO, you should price your armor in accordance with your server. You aren't making ub3r stuff, but, when you factor in decay, there is certainly room for affordable armor. Check the local smith shops and vendors for the stuff they can make, say if your competitors are making 80% kin77% base Composite and charging 30k per piece, then as a 10 point smith you should easily be able to make 80/66% and charge less. I find that regular armor comes in handy when I want to hunt, but, not use my 500k suit of armor.
