Thread: Krayt Composite Segments

Are Krayt Composite segements with 10% or 17% resistance any good at all? or are they junk? Also what about Krayt scales with 4% to all or mixed 4,5, and 6%?

I have found that 31% segments produce armor about the same %'s as my standard Advanced Composite which is mid 50's%, but the encumbrance on them is strangely a tad higher. One upside however is that it moves all stats to the effectivness category so a protect slice will make all stats (besides stun of course) better.

If I use 10% Krayt segments, I get 40 or 41% resists. I dont remember the exact encumbrance, though.


I bought a couple of 26% segments cheaply because they were unmatched, and made gloves from them to see what I could get. The result was 59% resists, and 22,18,22 encumbrance.


As for whether the lower percent segments are worth it, that is for you and your customers to decide.


I don't know much about Krayt scales. Every time I try to put scales in anything, I experience an extraordinary rate of critical failures while experimenting .

I can get up to 52% on a 17% plate. Unless you can get a 25-30% plate i wouldn't bother (Unelss your getting those lower plates free)

Im a new master and a friend wanted a krayt suit of composite. He gave me dozens of sets of identical 10% pieces. A body piece requires 4. I put in 4 - 10 % segments. I get a great success but only get a 19% effectiveness. Am i wrong or shouldnt' it br 40%. It seems wrong that the krayt suit comes out with all 41% max when done when my normal suits have a 55% base.

The multiple krayt comp segs' 10% doesn't stack in a chest piece. They collectively establish the segment starting value for the individual piece...no matter how many segments the piece calls for...the segment base value is 10%. On top of that, they figure in the crafting values of your ingredients, which is why you came up with 19%...experimented up to 41%.


Using Naritus resources, I can experiment up to 45% with 10% BE krayt comp segments. With my unlayered crafted segments (19% BE), I'm able to experiment up to 55%...so the relationship is pretty sound. Therefore, I would expect that a 19-20% BE Krayt Comp Segment would hit about the same base as my crafted segments. Anything higher BE than that would be an improvement.


Keep in mind...most of the krayt comp segments out there are 10% (90% of them?...I don't know...but a LOT of them) There are exceptional ones out there...just very rare. I have personally worked with a quartet of 62% BE Krayt Comp Segments. The end result was 80% base with exp points to spare. Keep looking...they're out there.

Are these bugged? I sent a ticket, but the CSR claimed to try to contact me, but of course did not because I was online when I got the response from him ( I checked my log and nothing also). He said it is not a known issue, but how can you believe somebody that outright lies to you? Thanks for any info.

Sorry for not being clear. I mean can you craft with them? When I try to craft an advanced composite segment I am not given the option to put it in the crafting tool. Anybody else having that problem?

Question is not too clear. What are bugged about them? They have always dropped as far as I know.
