Thread: Confused :/ Crafting tools, stations etc
Oh one more thing
4: 3rd party components. I'm thinking about tailor made segments for wookie armor, and artisan made parts for PSG's. Does the stat on these have any importance, or can they be made with crap materials so to speak ![]()
1. If you are refering to Effectivness which shows on the examine window I'm not really sure if anyone knows how much it matters if any. But the limit is 15 with perfect materials. I have only seen some tools in the 14's. I made one with 13.85.
2. Not sure how droid crafting stations work, but I have one as well as a personal station. Get the best quality you can get, max is 45, I believe with perfect resources. I got one in the upper 43's.
3. not sure about BE clothes, but skill tapes cap at +25 (you can get over +25, but only the first 25 count) so you can get 2 extra experimentation points.

I have a few questions and would be ever so grateful if anyone could answer these1: What does effectiveness on crafting tools do, and is it important, and what is the limit ? Currently the best one i was able to make was with +24%. I've been told from some that it affects the succes in crafting, from others it affects the success in experimenting, and from others that it affects the crafting speed2: Droids vs Personal crafting stations- what is the difference - is the difference important enough to go invest in a personal station or can a droid do the job as good ? If i should go get a station what should the stats be?3: Clothes! Is there bio engineerable clothes with extra experimentation points ? Or is it only available via skill tapes and special aprons? Furthermore what is the limit for extra experimentation point and how important is thisAgain I'd be like to thank whoever may help me out.
1. Effectiveness on both crafting tools AND crafting station help limit the number of critial failures when making armor. The higher the effectiveness, the less chance of failing or having a "moderate" success. Experimenting is a random roll that has more to do with your experimentation points you have rather than the tool itself. Some people might argue otherwise... Crafting speed is not affected by a high rated crafting tool. When you examing the tool, 15% is the max (perfect) crafting tool.
2. Droids are defaulted at the highest effectiveness rating for crafting stations. For the most part, they are better than the crafting station itself, however, its very tedious to recharge every 2-3 hrs. Investing in a personal home crafting station will benifit you in the long run. Spend the money if you can. When you examing the station, try and get one near 40.xxx+, I believe 45.000 is the highest you can get.
3. Bio-engineered Clothing stats DO NOT carry over. There was a bug after Pub6 that allowed them to carry over, but the devs caught it and stopped it right away through a hotfix. Some pieces did slip through and are floating around, but they are VERY, VERY rare. Once you hit Master, you are alloted 10 experimentation points. However, through obtaining skill tapes, you can raise that to 12points. You will need a total of +20 skill tapes to get these extra points. (+10=1 exp point). They are important when it comes to producing the "best/uber" armor and can cost an arm and a leg to get them. Normally, they run about 1mill per +1. Only go after these once you have established yourself with enough money to cover your expenses. They are not required, but they help.
4. Components made by non-armorsmiths have NO bearing on the outcome of the armor. The only one that has "some" usefulness is the Padded Segement made by Tailors who can experiment on it to raise its effectiveness. However, from the other threads, the final outcome is a difference of 1%-2%. So it's not that big of a deal.
Hope this helps and Welcome to the craft!

thx a lot both of you,
and made a typo in the text; my tool was 2.4% not 24% hehe
