ive just spent about an hour experimenting with kintetic layers, ive made 12 gloves

i cannot get 80 kinetic and have low encum......it makes me wonder if you need the extra 2 points to get the LowE cranked out

You can do better than most 10-pointers if you work at it, but you will never get down to as low of an encumbrance as someone who has more than 10 points. I know I was surprised just how big of a difference it makes just by having 11 points.

What kind of Encumberance and Base Resist are you getting on the gloves you made...

I can make some fairly nice gloves which are around 80K/72E/63B and have a 40/40/40 Encumberance... and I only have 10 points... Now with 12 points I would be able to take that down a little more, but not a whole lot... Where 12 Point smiths Really shine is when attempting to make Really High Base suits... My Layers end up at around 13/13/13 Encumb because I only get 1 poitn to experiment on tthe Durability... however with two more points I could probly get the same resists and have 8/8/8 Layers which would be 18 less encumberance on Every Piece I make...

Not sure what you mean by low encumbrance. If you want advice, can you give some more info about the layers you made, the segments and finally the gloves? And about what you try to achieve?

If you just wonder whether 2 more points gives you lower encumbrance: yes.

I think I can make 80% kinetic / 60% base gloves with encumberance around 45 with 10 points. With 12 points one can probably get this down to 35 encumbernace.

What kind of glove is this? Composite or Ubese, if Ubese, how do you kick up the base so high?

Thank you so much in advance

pretty sure its impossible to do that with ubese

Oh yeah, that's impossible with Ubese. Highest for Ubese would probably be 80% kinetic and something like 30% base with 12 points and perfect resources. Doubt you will find that anywhere though.

Calling them a 12 point smith is a bit of a misnomer... 20 point smith is more appropriate.

I mean lets take a look at the numbers. (ADV Composite Armor)

3 kietic layers at 12 points (6 extra points)
1 ADV comp segment at 12 points (2 extra points)
1 Piece of armor at 12 points (2 extra points)

10 points base + 10 Extra points = 20 point smith

It's simple mathematics really, the only part that isn't simple math is figuring out how the hell I am going to get the money to buy those extra 2 points.

i did loads of different combines, the closest ive gotten is 76 kin with 56 base using 6kin/2base 5/5/5 layers (the total ham for a suit is ~672/577/663. now that i think about it, if i bump those layers up to 6kin/3base with a little more ham, i might just hit that 80kin and have low-ish encumberence

if anyone can give me the stats of there layers/segments on how they made lowE with 10 points, just for a guide that would be great

My main problem is not that I lack the points to get light layers with good enough kinetic to max out at 80% on the final, but rather the huge amount of layers you need to handcraft to even think of a 7 point amazing in the encumbrance department. Seems to me the encumbranceline is rolling a new result for every point even if you put several points into it at once.

For instance when experimenting in base with 7 points at a time and get an amazing your stats will rise by (7*8)=56% on the small bar. On the encumbrance theres something fishy where the results vary by up to 20% or more of what the "great success - window" tells.

10 point here, but still make some fairly decent armor, would love to have atleast 1 extra point though. My last run of 80% energy, 61% base turned out to 42/39/279 encumbrance on the helmet, so not half bad for a 10point.

Yes, you're doomed to make high E amor

Just kidding, If you have the right materials which is high MAL,OQ and SR try making your layers 2%-base 7% special and 4/4/4 HAM you should be able to do that with 10pts. I know Shadowfire have the resources to do that. Look for a good polysteel copper or Phrik aluminum those usually have high MAL. I do 2/7 with 2/2/2 ham with really good copper and polymer and amorphous gem. Vendusii amorphous gem have a higher MAL gate also.

My best set of Encubrance slices armor was 338/293/338. Itcould get all the stats below 300 but just don't have the time. So you're looking at high300's to low 400's if you get the right materials and really good slices.

Hope that helps

Forgot something, Bepine port is great! I won't make armor without it.

Deterimine your cut off points for the experimentation line and always experiment to that limit with one shot. If you have amazing on 7 dots that's 7 amazings. I always have some kind of food buffs too. Don't know if it helps but it doesn't hurt.

sorry for double post.
