Publish 7 had a big change to the crafting system, it lowered the amount a experiment added to be proportional to the total you could possibly experiment on that 1 bar. Without amazings a 10pt smith should have been able to max 1 bar, and only 1 bar. Just before it went live the community outcry against such a patch cause the devs to change their mind. But the changes were "baked into the patch" and couldn't be removed. So for 1 day the craftin system changed. With amazings (or extra pts) you were able to push past your resource caps. I have a few schematics for 5% base layers for instance.
In general for 10pt smiths it was a bad thing. For 11 or 12pt smiths, they were able to break the resource caps pretty easily and create better armor that would've been possible under the old system. The next day they added an update that reverted to the old (and current) crafting system where greats are a straight 7% and amazings are 8%.

Even if you area 12pnt smith be carefull asking for it back cause the going over the resource maximums is certinaly a rounding error that would be fixed and we would just be left with far less exp points to spend on other areas
