Hey all, my alt just mastered AS 2 days ago and I'm busting my butt to get great crafting resourecs and experimentation bonuses. Now I hear of a big armor nerf coming in the update with the combat rebalance. I have heard this from several sources.

My questions are, has anyone else heard of this and if so how hard is armor being hit and what armor is being hit?

How will the prof be affected?

And finally, for us new Smith's would it pointless to try and make armor only to have to compete with Smith's that can still sell 80% kinetic?

Any info would help =)

Thanks in advance

I'm sure there are those who knows more than me, but this is what I "know":

*Armor is going to have it resistances lowered. (All existing armor will be converted)
*Armor will get more diversion in resistances so that ie Composite will no longer be the only thing you need to cover your a$$.
*If buffs gets less powerful (which is also a rumour) then encumbrance will matter more.

Noone knows how this will affect Armorsmiths, one can only guess. Personally I don't think it will change things for the worse. Even if armor only protects 10% instead of 90% it's still better than 0%. But that of course is dependant on how they change buffs.

So I think that since all existing armor probably will be converted, then as a new armorsmith, you won't have harder than it is now to start a buisness.

in my opinion this wont hurt armorsmiths, yeah it will cut down on the conformist composite wearers, but people will still rely on armor to give them some protection and the other armors people currently dont fancy will now be something you'd like to design now.

ully this will work out good. Atm im 4244 in armorsmith, and plan CURRENTLY on making very little comp armor. Im going to consentrate on ubese, padded and maybe some chitchin..why? because very few smiths make it at all, and it will distiguish myswelf from teh comp whores

It would be a much easier (cheaper) fix to cap the quality of resources than to rework the way armor works now. To nerf the uber armors like comp all you'd have to do is cap kiirium steal and deutronium for ubese. Then you could still allow miners to extract decent ferrous metals so armorsmiths could produce chitin, mabari and even bone that was on par with elite armors (for some resists).

Personally I think its great. I'd like to see more people wearing padded and tantel and armorsmiths will wind up selling a lot more armor, even though the returns per piece will probably be a little less I bet revenue will be higher.

Comp whores? You refering to the smiths or players?

It will be interesting to see whether on not you make comp when you're able to. I make all of them (except bone), and have been collecting the resources for all the armors for several months. Needless to say, I have quite a collection of very good resources for the lower end stuff. I think once you discover how much harder Chitin, Padded and Ubese are to make a living from, you'll be pumping out your share of comp as well.

To the original point....if you're making good armor now...it will be good after the changes...comparatively speaking. The only way that will change, is if the resource quality ceases to matter. If that happens, I'll find something else to do. Maybe enjoy some of the movies that have come out in the past several months.

I mainly concentrate on Ubese, and I can't keep it on my vendor. I rarely make Comp, but when I do; I got a line around the block for it. maybe it's the price I sell it at, dunno.

i do plan ot make SOME comp, im an armorsmith, im ment to make armor hehe....but 99% of the A/S's on my server make comp, and if u dont want comp...u can buy...comp...there is no real choice on our server. There are a few that make others, but its very very few and far between. Hell, it took me 2 months to find someone to make me a padded armor belt......

Im an aspiring armorsmith to and at first i thought "oh no this is terrible!"

But if you think about it, ppl will still need the armour, because it will make combat THAT much easier.

And also it sounds like theyre making the other types of armour more viable too, which means that we can make different types of armour which will be in more demand, and

Variation = interesting.

Personally id imagine that id get bored of AS if all i did was churn out composite armour.
