Thread: My advanced Kash armor stats suck and I don't know why. Please help.

So I've only recently become a MAS about a month ago. I'm a lowly 10pt too. I'm trying to break into the market and I know I wont' be able to make the best but I'd like to make decent armor at a discount price for a while until I get the hang of it.

I've spent the last 6 weeks gathering the resources I'd need to make advanced kash armor. For the most part, my resource OQ & SR are above 700 for both. They're all pretty decent resources or at least I thought they were.

I built my segments, and got a master tailor to experiment the padding, and then put it all together and my armor stats are a lot lower than I expected. The stats I've seen from other smiths has been about %50 to %55 kinetic with the rest 20% to 25%.

My best on the other hand has been 42% kinetic and the rest are 25%.

I'm new and this is my first attempt at making armor and I need some help. This is the first elite craftign profession I've ever done too.

Any advice or assistance would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

its all in the resources... well, mostly.. and knowing where to spend your experiment points to make them count.

I'd suggest just experimenting on the resistence line when making the armor segments. If you can get the kinetic resist up to the 20-21% range on the segment you might be able to achieve a 50% kinetic armor final piece with the resources you described.

My wook segments are usually 5% Base and 20-21% and i am ending up with 55-56% Kinetic with 20% Base.

The difference would be the resources. I have the wood and hide that was the current spawn on Bria when wookiee armor was first released. They were both actually half decent resources. The other part of the puzzel is deciding what resources to choose. I have mostly resources that are in the 800-900's per stat (where possible) and from experience just changing 1 resource can have a dramatic effect. Look for mostly high OQ and SR ~1500 or higher in total.

Dont worry about the encumb on wookiee armor, wookiees have huge HAMs and dont worry too much about the base effectiveness, the 15-25% base that most ppl get is pretty low on the armor scale, you'd be better off spending the experimentation only on the kinetic resists.

just my 2 cred's on wookiee armor, hope it helps

cheers

encumbrance experimentation also affects the durability of the armor. KC is fragile enough and used in places were most wear much more durable armor that condition does matter on KC.

Your also hitting what I tend to hit on a normal bases... for the most part I sell 50 Kinetic 23 to 25 Base suits.. and most of the time if it comes out lower its due to a lower end Talior armor paddings... Most, not all of them dont understand how to go and actully experiment the way that armorsmiths will need...

Look for 3 to 4% pads and see if that helps out...

Also your resouces are about on par with mine...

Just to give you an example of the stuff I am using in my segments (Note I am also a 10 point smith)

Endorian Decidious Hard Wood 893 OQ+ 550 SR= 1443 total

Yavin Leather is around 774 OQ + 448 SR= 1223 Total...

Keep in mind Max would be 1000 + 1000 = 2000 But thats a dream material... The first time any one creates a suit of armor using all 1000's in the important stats will be the day that the devs have shut off the resouce stat caps and no longer care about balance or control...

Just kidding...

Its your resources. The wood, being in the 700's-800's is pretty much good. The leather, start looking for 900 quality stuff. Honestly, the base is never going to hit past 25%, and should be in the 20-22 range. So, i tried making KC armor with leather high in oq in the 900's, and forgot the SR. Not necessary, since it was only a 1-2% base difference. That can be made up with really good armor padding from a master tailor getting 4% base padding with really good resources. resources are a lot easier to get that hunting tons of armor. I save the best OQ-SR leather for other armors.

Wooly hides, same thing. Except for armor padding, where i look for only SR over 900, and oq is bad. Tailors cant experiment on special resists, the only thing that can are durability and base. So, Get poor oq leather then, rather than wasting.

My current run is 53%kin, and 22 base. And I'm only a '10pt' master.

Its your segment resources. final combine resources seems to only effect 1 to 3% depending on the difference in resources.

The answer was right there in front of me. When I made my first run of segments I called them AKC 181 where the 181 indicated how my experiment points were spent...

I checked through my resources again just to make sure I wasn't using something with crap stats and they all checked out as good. I checked this thread again and then checked how I experimented the segments and viola! I made a new schematic called AKC 028 where the kinetic resist was up in the low 20's. Made a short run of those and tested it. The result was 55% kinetic / 21% for the rest. Not bad for a 10pt master wookiee. Now the factory is chugging out those new segments. I should have full suits for sale by the weekend.

Mystery solved, thanks guys!
