Let me start by saying first, that I have no crafting experience whatsoever, let alone armorsmithing. With that said I will let the onslaught of what may seem to be silly questions begin

1)What kind of base and special resists can you put on padded armor, and to what effectiveness?

2)What kind of total condition (integrity? I forget the correct terminology)can you expect off of padded armor made by a good armorsmith?

3) Myself and a friend looted 11 very nice acklay hides, how many pieces of padded can that make?

4) What kind of encumberance can you expect from a good suit of padded in comparison to composite?

5) If padded armor truly is a wasted effort, how much would you expect 11 acklay hides with the following stats to sell for:

22950 Integrity

17% Base

16% Heat

42% Energy

Thank you in advance for any and all answers/opinions given. I would really rather turn these into armor as opposed to selling them, since it seems like everyone and their brother has comp. Iit would make for a unique look assuming it is comparable in function.

i've never seen acklay hides before, but i've heard of them. are the Segment Enhancements (they would look like the containers Hides come in)?

if so, then those are pretty damn nice with 17% base, but since they have integrity i doubt that they are enhancements.

could a vet of loot crafting explain everything about Acklay Hides in general? i'm also curious!

They look like armor attachments and say "this acklay hide could make an effective padded armor segment"

Its all greek to me, just know what it says /chuckle.

assuming you got good resources to make the armor itself, you could pull some decent armor from those hides, the energy would easily hit 80% making it perfect for factional missions or mobs with blasters.

What about base and enc? And is it possible to put stun layers on it?

Going to try to do some research, but not very familiar with crafting websites

The ackley hide replace the crafted segment, so it is not possible to put any extra layers into it.

1) With very good resources you could expect around 45-50% base with thoose segments. So energy will then add on top of this and get you to 80% easily (as stated by another poster). Also 16% heat in special (taken up from vulnerability by the segment)

2) Around 44-45k condition, more or less depending on resources and experimentation.

3) For padded all small pieces (bracers, biceps, gloves, boots) require 1 segment each, the pants and helm requires 3 identical each, while the chest requires 4 identical.

4) For the same resists on composite vs. padded, then padded is generally a bit heavier (it is very hard to raise the resists on padded compared to composite, so hamcosts grow real quick). Allthough with theese segments you will get some very light pieces.

Forgot to add: if you are in the market for crafted segments instead, then such a segment can take 2 layers of any type + an enhancer (as all armor can). In comparison, composite can take 3 layers.

All above is completly irrelevant if you are going for the ackley hide though.
