I have experimentation +20. And I have read that people experiment when crafting, so I thought I would be able to do something with experimentation. When crafting anyhting I see no option to experiment.Am I missing something?

Thanks for your help.

you can only experiment next to crafting stations, each +10 points in experimentation gives you 1 experiment point

I have tried standing next to a crafting station but no option in the radial menu appears. At what point should I see that option?

Ahh so after some reading I have discovered that you need to use a specific crafting tool. A generic crafting tool does not allow you to experiment. I wish that was put somewhere in the maual. It would have saved me a few hours of my life.

Thank god for these boards.

You also need to be using the relevant specialist crafting tool. Using a General Crafting tool or the wrong tool for the station, you won't be able to experiment.

I'm trying to figure out the relationship between my ingredients diverses qualities and the assembly and experimentation results i get.

Any sources, or guide about that?

Thanks for any help.

Well, there's this in the FAQ:

That will be changing next publish, though, the resource stats are going to affect the increase on experimentation success somehow. I think. The dev notes aren't clear.

when experimenting:

Is it best to use 1 point at a time?

2?

As many as possible?

Depends on what you are going for

If you are just going for that extra point that you need 2 extra percent to get then Id say 2 at a time...
Going for a whole extra point (7%) Id say throw in that 7 pointer and hope (probable take a couple o tries :-)

So its really about analyzing you needs and then deciding how many points to go for..

a great result will yield a 7% increase for each point used in experimentation, and an amazing result will yield 8%. so sometimes it's better to do small increases, and sometimes better to use em all in one chunk.

For instance: when making my kinetic layers I couldn't max the kinetic line with 8 points as an amazing, but 9 points as an amazing resulted in wasted points over the cap. So what I did was spend 5 points, then 4 on the kinetic line, and if one of those was an amazing, and the other a great, it still maxed. So a single amazing result with all 9 points would have yielded the cap that I wanted, but 5 points as a great, and 4 points as an amazing also yielded the cap as well. So I experimented the kinetic line twice, once with 5 points, once with 4, giving me two chances to get an amazing result. (no big difference, just a time saver in getting the amazing result I needed)

Now with my latest ubese armor peices it's better for me to use 8 points all at once in special resistance, cause 8 points as an amazing yielded the 75% max resistance I wanted, but 4/4 great/amazing wouldn't. So I just tried again and again with 8 points all at once in special resistance till I got an amazing result, then used my remaining 3 points (I'm an 11 point smith) in hams with a great result, and made that as my schematic.

So generally I would say it's best to figure out how many points you want to use with an amazing result, and keep trying till you get it.
