Thread: Qustion about stun for a AS's first try at stun armor
why is it better to have like 10-15% stun than it is to have 30% stun? i've seen so many quality AS say this but i don't understand the logic behind it

a 10% stun reduces the damage by 60% (50+10), as apposed to a 80% reduction (50+30).
most stun damage can be absorbed by a psg as well.
So... get a high stun helmet and low stun high base everything else.
my new armor is 16% stun 69% base

does have a resist reduce it by 50% YES
does an additional 10% stun reduce it again YES
I did not mention how much damage actually got through
I also said that a psg would take most of it, I didnt post stats of psg or resists
We can turn this into a AP1 AP0 discussion or psg damage reduction, but that wasnt my point
I didnt post those numbers to be exact or end all, but in a way a newer smith could understand them
yea I put exact numbers, I gave a generic answer.
my numbers were off by a few % IF THE POSTER WANTED A BREAKDOWN ON AP1 vs AP0
he wants to know why people bother with 12-15% stun armor as opposed to 37+% armor
you are picking a fight
yes I posted exact numbers, but I didnt say they were the exact way damage would be taken
EXACT NUMBERS CAN BE FOUND HERE (since I never said that these were exact damages taked or resisted)

You're the one getting all grouchy. And to understand WHY you would want/not want high/low stun you need to understand the AP vs. AR system. You tried to explain that and you were off in your numbers, I corrected you and you had a hissy fit.
Go have a drinkor something, sheesh. ![]()

I think the heart of the matter is that, yes, more stun is better -for stun resist- however the more stun resist you pile into your armor the lower your base and higher your HAM is sure to be - for most anyway.
seems to me If you compare the practical benefit of high stun (30 -40%) against low stun(4%-11%), and the benefit of high base (62%-71%) against lower base (53%-61%), one would see that sacrificing several resists for one stun resist makes little sense considering the miniscule and largely undetectable benefit higher stun resists provide opposed to low stun resists.
High stun helmets on the other hand are one area where high stun can be a real benefit due to the specials from those who use stun weapons.
that was the point I was trying to make
