Thread: High kinetic chitin armor?

Tonight I saw a vendor on eclipse server with chitin armor with 63% kinetic and around 20 to others. Yeah, I know that's not that high compared to cold sliced armor, but it's the best chitin I've ever seen. Just wondering if it can get higher? I love the way it looks and would prefer it over ubese for fighting creatures who use kinetic. So, if ya get time, send me word on if it's possible to get it to around 75%, if so I gonna have to have a talk with some armorsmiths.

I don't think it is possible unenhanced, but with an above-base krayt or voritor scale sure. It'd have to be pretty good though. I got 65% Kinetic on my chitin last I tried.

I don't quite think you understood him... he didn't say it couldn't be enhanced, but rather that it can't be made that good without an enhancement.

So if someone could make a suit of 75% kinetic, how much would it run?

Best i made was in the 60's. I wouldnt waste a krayt component on it. And i believe the voritor pieces are bone armor only arent they? But as much as i wanted to do chitin its ham cost, when you add biceps, arent better then ubese. But it sure does look cooler

I read in the post above (one of the faqs) that sharniff scales could be used in the place of krayt, dunno if that would cut the cost, but it says it adds 15% to chitin, whatever that means, I'm not an armorsmith =(

Well that would be the difference to push chitin into the 70's. Sounds like some of us AS's will be hunting Sharnaff's

Sharnaff Plating Segments have 15% to base, but they are segments. So no, they won't bump up kinetic and will be worse than player made segments.

Sharnaff Plates only enhance cold, heat, and acid so they won't bump up kinetic either.

I have pretty good resources and can make 63% kinetic Chitin. That means 68% kinetic with a standard, bazaar cheap, voritor scale. Not bad, but I can get 79% kinetic in Ubese with the same scale. Personally I wear Chitin parts because I like the looks better, but obviously Ubese will be better for grinding out combat professions. If I had a really good set of krayt scales I would use them in Chitin. Hitting 80% kinetic would be awesome.

Have you used Reinforced Kliknik Shells at all? I've got a set that are 18% base and a friend has 30% base ones. Wondering how chitin would turn out using those, tired of ubese.

Kliknick and Reinforces Kliknik Shells have base and reduced encumbrance but no kinetic. Kinetic is the special for Chitin, so you would only get the kinetic in the piece build, which isn't much. Using really nice Reinforced Kliknik Shells, I can get 35%kinetic (same resources I can get to 63-64%kinetic using crafted segs) with a base in the 30s, too, I think (hard to rememeber) by maxing kinetic then dropping the rest into base. It should be possibly to get the base into the 40s with reinforced shells if you max that and then drop what's left into kinetic. I really wish the shells were either enhancers or that they had kinetic on them as well as base. They don't make sense.

Ach that sucks, would make a lot more sense to be enhancers. Thanks for the detailed info since I'm a DE not an AS. Guess I'll just sell/bazaar the shells. It's a shame there aren't many options over ubese and composite for high-end combat. Maybe I'll have to hunt some rancors for some padded enhancements.
