I just did some testing and i was to say the least puzzled by the results that i accived. From what i had read it seemed that amazing sucesses were the key to breaking the experimentation barrier and having better results than what should be possible.
I also thought i had confirmed that when i made my first 15.00 tools today from amazing sucesses.
But then i tried making kinetic layers and even with first an amazing sucess on a 7point experiment followed by an amazing on a 2point experiment didnt move my bar above 89%.
Then for some reason i did a normal experiment that after 7+3 points had hit 87% and i could put my 11th point in the a slot to get 89% or thats what i thought. To my suprise i instead hit 93%.
And this with all great sucesses. I tried it again and once again got 87% and then 93% and again and again...
It is now my theory that this is indeed not a feature but a bug.
What seems to happen is that the game performs the experiment but doesnt stop at the cap but raises the experimentation by the same ammount that it would be raised had the experiment been performed far below the gap. So in essence if you manage to stop just a single experimental percentage away from your cap you should be able to raise that cap by (resoureQuality/1000)x7%-1% using a single point with a great sucess. Feel free to try this out yourself and point out any flaws in my reasoning should you find any.

We pointed this out to the devs during testing. The response was something along the lines of, we're aware of it but currently evaluating the impact.

but why? It seems very buggy and I dont understand how it could possibly be a feature.
Oh well its just as well that the ppl who are grinding away for those perfect layers know how to get them

With 10 points its harder to get to the point where this is possible to do
