To all Armorsmiths, I am collecting info on what type of Prestige Class you would like to see after Master Armorsmith. For example...

After achieving Master Ranger you have now opened the paths to:

  1. The Outdoorsman (Big Game Hunter)

  2. Antarian Ranger (possesses minor force resistances and abilities)

  3. Combat Ranger (master of guerilla warfare)

Those were just examples of ideas I had for the Ranger profession. Now that you hopefully see where I am going with this idea, I would love to see where you would like theArmorsmith to go after achieving the title of Master Armorsmith. Any and all input is welcome, but please try to keep it constructive.

Newb question: what is an antarian ranger?

The Antarian Rangers were a unique paramilitary organization of non-Force-users who, unlike many citizens of the galaxy, did not fear the power of the Jedi and actively assisted them whenever possible. The Antarian Rangers dedicated their lives to acting as support troops for the Jedi, and are deployed in reconnaissance and covert operations to make the work of the Jedi easier. Often tasked with doing what some would consider the "dirty work," the Rangers were treated by the Jedi Council with indifference. The opinions of individual Jedi vary, however, and many did work closely with them and truly valued their service.

An organization that had just over a thousand total members at optimal, the Antarian Rangers were as diverse as the Jedi they served. Typically, those Jedi who choose to make use of the organization dealt with a small group of Rangers with whom they were familiar, and relied on the same Rangers repeatedly. Some Jedi actually had semipermanent Antarian Ranger companions who traveled the stars with them and assisted them in a fashion similar to the Padawan-Master relationship. Whenever a Jedi wants a traveling companion or aide, typically one to three Rangers accompanied him on his journeys. Otherwise, the various branches of the Antarian Rangers trained, honed their skills, and prepared for a time when they were needed to assist the Jedi in whatever way they could.

The Antarian Rangers were founded some 600 years before the Clone Wars and continued to flourish up until the rise of the Empire. On the planet Antar 4, home of the Gotal species, a Coruscant-born Human Jedi Knight named Marus Timpel was performing routine duties that brought him into contact with a being who was turned down for Jedi training. Kaskutal, a Gotal with limited Force sensitivity, had been turned away as a child by Timpel himself and had gone on to become a very successful and wealthy businessman specializing in trade negotiations and intercessions. The two become fast friends, and during their discussions, Timpel expressed his frustrations with the limitations his Jedi lifestyle put on his travels and available resources. Kaskutal, still harboring admiration for the Jedi despite being turned away, offered to help and raised funds and resources from donors and investors to create an organization to help alleviate those problems. This organization came to be known as the Antarian Rangers, and it soon spread beyond Antar 4 into the rest of the galaxy.

In the early years, the organization was small but ambitious. Kaskutal, the first true Antarian Ranger, used his minor Force sensitivity, Gotal senses, and business acumen to assist Timpel throughout the rest of his career. Upon Timpel's death, Kaskutal relegated himself to a more administrative role, seeing to it that the organization formed branches throughout the galaxy. Within 50 years, the Antarian Rangers had divisions in several well-populated systems, including Corellia, Brentaal, Ruan, and Coruscant.

Over time, the expansion throughout the Core Worlds caused the organization to become Human-dominant, but other species did join the cause and sometimes rose into positions of leadership. The Jedi, being more loosely organized at the time, did not discourage the growth of the organization, as the Rangers proved their usefulness without drawing upon Jedi resources. Thanks to good investment decisions and some savvy business deals, Kaskutal ensured that the Rangers were financially stable, if not overly wealthy.

As the Clone Wars approached and the Jedi Council took a more traditionalist stance in policy, the Rangers found fewer and fewer Jedi calling upon them for help. Some branches disbanded due to inactivity, while others used their combat training and entrepreneurial skills to become freelance mercenaries or sector defense forces.

The organization, reduced to less than half its former size, found a brief revitalization with the onset of the Clone Wars. The Rangers found themselves suddenly in demand; the Jedi, outnumbered and unable to sufficiently defend the galaxy against the threat of the Separatists, once again called upon the Rangers for aid. As Jedi-Ranger pairings become more commonplace once more, the group saw a brief surge in membership before the rise of the Empire.

As the Sith Lord Darth Vader and the Emperor eradicated the Jedi, the Antarian Rangers found themselves hunted in a similar fashion. With a bounty on the heads of the known Rangers and the threat of Inquisitors looming over them, the remaining branches of the Antarian Rangers went into hiding. One group of Antarian Rangers, led by a Feeorin named Solm, openly opposed the tyranny of the Empire, but for the most part the Rangers went into seclusion or disbanded entirely in order to avoid capture. The hidden enclave at Toprawa, home of Wraith Squadron member Tyria Sarkin, was eliminated by the Empire in a case that became typical of the eventual destruction of the Rangers.

Hehe. Sorry about the blue text guys. Favorite color. Anyway, thats who the Antarian Rangers are. And yes, the idea of the Prestige Class is to make everyone a bit more unique. Got any ideas on that? Here are a few little ideas I had for armorsmith. These have yet to be truly fleshed out, just my imagination run wild.

  • Imperial Armorsmith (capable of crafting armor such as the storm trooper, scout trooper, Black hole trooper, Imperial Guardsman, Swamp trooper, and various other forms of Imperial exclusive armor)

  • Armor Designer (capable of crafting add-ons to existing armor such as spiked shoulder pads, markings, accessories, etc.)

  • Black Market Armor Master (capable of crafting rare forms of armor and enhancing the existing stats on armors already craftable at the master level.)

I like the idea, more variation the better.... But make these super elite classes more that just an XP grind to gain, I am grinding my way to master armorsmith ATM and it's the most un role-play like thing possible - downright boring. How about Master armorsmith + certain imperial rank, unlocks ability to do a quest from an imperial somewhere.

5 stars..... (Pls SOE do something like this)

What i would really like to see, not much of an advanced armorsmith, is a combat droid that took armor from an armorsmith, weapons from a weaponsmith and then the Droid engineer to put it all together. This would crate a true feeling of a combat droid, and im not talking a probot or a R3 type unit, but more like an Android type thing, and well we are at it, we could get Bio-engineers in on this too, let them craft something for more intelligence, like a BE brain. And these "Androids" could be really customized by giving them different armor andweapons for different looks. The BE brain could play that part on what type of weapon this droid would be most deadly with. I know im really go far out on this, but i think it would be a kick ass idea. But i doubt we will see this much detail going into one "item" in the game, and then if it does, i doubt it will work properly.

--To say of what is that it is not, or of what is not that it is, is false, while to say of what is that it is, and of what is not that it is not, is true--

That is actually exactly what I was thinking. No XP involved anywhere. You would gain Prestige points to advance in levels, but those points are earned by completing missions for each individual Prestige Class. For example, the Imperial Armorsmith would be required to have a high enough level of Imperial Faction Ranking to be able to unlock that Prestige Class. My idea is that these "Elite-Elite", as people like to call them, would only be attainable by doing a set number of things to "unlock" them. These Prestige Classes would be rewards to those who have remained in that particular profession long enough to have earned them.

A couple of suggestions that were listed around, not my ideas, but might be cool I thought.

1. Bio-Armorsmith
Bio-engineered Leather (added component to armor like a tougher skin)
Organic Armor (self repairing - vulnerablilities to poisons - disease)
Heavily Armored Pets

2. PSG ShieldSmith/Experimental Armorsmith

Specific layers/resists as specialfor PSGshields (once they work), like a stun shield or a kinetic shield.

Group energy shields, droid shields.

Heavy Armors (fixed ultra heavy encumberance, subtract from terrain negotiation, etc... resists similar to composite but AR2)

Allow HAM specific modifications (IE, lower mind only, or action only but by 3x as much when experimenting for HAM)

More off the wall suggestions:

Vibro Armor modification (deals some damage back if hit with kinetic melee damage)

MagneticArmormod (deals some damage back if hit with stun damage)

DeflectorArmor mod (allows part of an energy attack to return to sender dealing some damage back think jedi with their sabers deflecting an energy weapon)

Not too serious about all of these, but they are good for the conversation.
