Can a Master AS give me a quick summary of what seems to be the higher end in Composite suits?

Questions:

1. How high resists does an unleyered suit have?

2. How much of a HAM penalty is there for adding layers?

Basically those are the two things i would like to know.

I'm thinking that if the base resists are high enough, I can get a good slice and have a composite suit have 80%+ kinetic and low HAM cost (for compsite, anyway).

Any advice, links would be very helpful and appreciated.

Thanks!

1. Generally 50% - 60%. Unlayered. Best I've ever seen was 60% unlayered.

2. HAM penalties vary on layers. Ultimately what the HAM is depends a whole heckuva alot as to what the armorsmith was trying to achieve. Generally speaking however figure it this way... a full suit of unlayered composite will have roughly 400 - 500 encumbrances on your secondaries. A full 3 layer suit of armor will run about 850 - 1000 on secondaries. Something being experimented for low ham with layers or some oddball combination will end up between 500 - 850 encumbrance.

Personally I make 3 layer kinetic suits. I experiment the HAMS though to be no heavier than if it had 2 maxed out kinetic layers. By doing this I get quite a bit more base effect ouf of it. Without much more ham penalty. I get the 80% kinetic "easily" without slices. If it does get sliced then all my base stats will start approaching 80% or beyond.
