keep your eye on the trade forum for people selling off old spawns of resources, and keep your eye out for resource spawns. I always would check planets once a week (unless you have a really good resource guide for your server, some servers have good ones, others don't have any) and as soon as something good spawns, get every ounce of it you can out of the ground. I keep 5 lots open for heavy mines, and whenever something really good spawns I get those 5 heavy mines on it from spawn in to spawn out and try to get enough to last you for minimum 3 months and if you can for 6 months as some resources take that long to spawn.

If you're mass producing for your guild, I would also ask them to help you out with wooly hide, especially if a good spawn comes around, offer discounts to people who bring you X amount of hide, and even possibly full suits of armor. Usually guilds are also a good place to get resources, I'd check with your fellow guild members and see if anyone does a lot of mining.

Also, finally, look around for some good reliable resource shops. They're usually not too hard to find and are often very competitive on who can keep the best stock at the best prices. I have a couple on my datapad that I go to from time to time just to see if there's any spawns I missed that I should buy, as well as when I have a resource emergency and need something specific that I didn't realize I ran out of. You might not be able to find the best resources in the history of the server at the shops, but being able to start with decent resources and working your way up will at least get you started on your feet.

Just keep an eye on whats spawing, make a note of what you have and what you need, save your credits to buy wooly hide min is normally 80-100cpu.

This is the only resource I would buy.

I did a mixture of Gathering for myself and browsing other peoples resource vendors. Using a site like SWGcraft.com is great because they update the resource spawns for every galaxy and planet daily making it easy to find what your looking for. Janta missions are a good bet while you can still do them anyway, you never know when you are going to stumble across a great deal as i have done soo many times.

try to make a few runs of ubese. Start some mining operations if you havent already. Most layers take metal or nonferrous metal, so there is usally some good stuff like that in spawn every month or so. Stock up when it does. ALso keep an eye out for polymer and amorphous gems. THey spawn much more frequently than the named resources and you will use them in all your kinetic layers.

You really should have been collecting some time ago, but don't worry about it. Also it doesnt hurt to email other masters, most would be willing to slice off a small chunk as long as it isnt super rare.

If you must have composite, you can make comp using nonadvanced segs. It will be really heavy, but just sell it cheap.

Before I was an armorsmith I sold resources, so whenever a good resouce would spawn I had about 60 mineral harvesters to mine it for me. I still had to buy about 5 resouces, but I just used money from my buisness. One thing you can try is to pay someone else to put down harvesters for you when a new resource spawns. It is alot cheaper than paying some to mine it for you and sell it to you at some price per unit. Of course I have the advantage of owning around 60 harvesters.

Resource collection is an ongoing process. I acquired the best I could, then sold it off when I got something better. This allowed 'smiths below me to continue up the ladder and gave me the credits to purchase higher when I couldn't harvest something....

Its unfortunate, but resource hoarding is a neccessity for the best resources but the lot and storage restrictions limit you to how much you can store at one time....

Its a hard balancing act, but can be made easier if you are a guild member and/or have friends.

quite simply it'll take a few months, don't go spending extreme amounts of credits on resouces. Take it slowly and in the end it will be alot more profitable.

Run janta missions for 3 hours, and go buy yourself 10 ber13 mineral harvesters, do a few more missions and go grab your self about 4 deep crust, 3fusions expand your fleet of harvesters as time goes on and you get more credits. Try and fit efficiency 4 from merchant will make it considerably cheaper to run these harvesters. I used to send a survey droid out come 4 hours after reset to every planet, first look for named resources and then intrusive ore/solid petro. if something new is out(keep a track of it in excel/ingame notepad) check the quality, if it's great stuff pop a message in guild chat asking if anyone has spare lots(at my max i had 30min/15deeps/10fusions) you will usually find someone who does, keep these ppl happy and they'll make mining alot easier. find a 80%+ concentration send these ppl waypoints and wait for them, then continue to stripmine the area. If the resource lasts 7days on a 80%concentration you'll be able to pull about around a million resources this should last you quite a while.

Key is patience, wait about 3-5months of collecting resources before you open up your store.

I like to browse resource vendors too..there are sometimes great deals to be found.
