Thread: RIS critical assembly

Although I follow the forums it takes quite something for me to post.. hence the 1 post here's nightmare

So I've spent countless time, effort money and a lot of luck where the GDK scales were concerned (I looted 6)I'm not a wealthy, guilded Armorsmith so I cant just go buy these things...

I completed the RIS Quest Friday the fact that I didn't get my boots back from the hermit was outweighed by the elite schematics now sitting in my data pad. It takes me 2 days to summon the courage to click in my ultra rare resources.. wooo I make a helmet! great what a relief. I'd read various stories on the forum of peoples crafting nightmares with RIS but I'd made a Helmet with no problems, now all I have to do is make my friends 5 pieces Helmet, Chest Leggins 2x bracers.. this I was worried about. I used polly cake and port, 33% crafting station, 14.28 tool some great resource and 1 average resource. All went fine which considering he paid about 20mil for his components this was a great relief, there were 2 critical failures on experimentation on bracers but it didn't damage the armor that badly.

So now I'm confident I can make my Chest plate, Leggings and Boots to go with my helmet. So I head home drop my crafting station cake, port same procedure and start crafting. I'd already made a bunch of RIS layers in a factory so I could have less chance of loosing peko feathers while keeping resists constant. So here goes the segment... click in my woollymander bone my gurk hide click assemble... CRITICAL ASSEMBLY!! what the hell... poof! bone, hide, vanish into oblivion... <Insert sickening thud of head on desk>

Ok.. that was really really bad luck... but hey come on I can match some Padded boots with the rest right?...

Second attempt... I make a segment great! on to the Chest plate..

Click the segment in now for the GDK scale.. click assemble.. guess what.. yup CRITICAL ASSEMBLY!!! like what the hell I'm a Master Armorsmith for the love of god! not a novice! I haven't had critical assembly's since hitting master.. now my segment and GDK scale are gone.. Ok so now my mouse has a big "throw me" sign hovering above it and my head hurts more than the first critical.. ticket! ticket! ticket! ringing in my ears... then it came to me..

If I were a Jedi I would have my precious rare loot back on a critical assembly, or at least that's what I've been told/read. I cant really be bothered to troll through the forum to confirm this. This isn't a gripe at Jedi if that's the case I agree they shouldn't loose it, but isn't one profession as deserving as another? It seems most of them "low level Jedi" were loosing pearls crystals etc creating their sabre's that's a bad bad bad thing, but they aren't a Master of their trade I am. I shouldn't loose ultra rare loot pieces like that on assembly, yes critical on experimentation I can live with but not assembly, its just so sickening. The good news is I still have 3 GDK scales the bad news I cant buy the woolymander bones their far too expensive I have to take my Smuggler's butt and wait for god knows how many days in the woolly temple hoping to god that a Master Swordsman doesn't run in and swish swish! dead Harrower.

My point is if my info is correct, why do I loose GDK, Bone, Hide on assembly? These things are soooo rare. I'm not 100% certain on the Jedi thing if I'm wrong then I stand corrected perhaps one of our Jedi friends can confirm this. Anyway I can appreciate that they are making a weapon and that its probably not the best thing to have every Jedi with a 1500dmg sabre, but even so the crafted item would be relative to the skill of the crafter like the few points of experimentation/assembly you get at novice AS. Bear in mind that obviously RIS can only be crafted at Master note that infact, and the collection of some of the rarest loot in game, for most it just cant be bought.

Basically I'd like to see this critical assembly in such a rare item stopped if you have the components to make it they shouldn't disappear just let it spit the rare bit back out so you can try again. I don't know what you guys think I know I feel sick at loosing my stuff, maybe the new correspondent could ask the dev's the question (shame Jaato is leaving great guide) and I don't want to hear "its by game design" if that's the case.. design is wrong needs fixing in such a rare item.

Sorry I don't post you guys do a great job in here

..ticket raised deaf ears it falls on me thinks..

in the old system for jedi they had that, now no crystals/pearls are used in assembly. The funny thing is architect/sw don't loose resources on critical assembly

for the cost of segements/componets etc

get a +43 station, +33 just doesnt cut it

make sure you have +20-+25 assembly bonuses in tapes

If it is worth 1-3 mill for you, go to a manufacturing center, these towns willhelp with assembly, it is worth is to go borrow a house/station etc

for final combine go to a research center, extra bonus to experimentation

and you still might fail, just try to maximize your chances for success. First thing that needs to go is the station, I am sure someone stocks 40+ stations at a decent price on your server

Sorry to hear that. The original argument for architects was that any critical assembly failures, due to the sheer quantity of resources required, would seriously set back the crafter in terms of cost and time. Of course, this was well over a year ago, back when the economies were far less developed than they are today.

Hopefully, something of a similar nature can be done about this in the future.

I had a system crash while I was naming an interwoven chest - I feel your pain :/ I'd have to agree with you -gettig the loot components back after a failed assembly would be great.

In the mean time, here area few ideas to help you avoid this occuring again. Depending on your server, you can find crafting stations as high as 45 rating. I'd recommend upgrading that first ff as was suggested earlier. For example, I know you can find 44.5 stations on the Ahazi server for about 25k. The other big thing would be usng Bespin port along with your cake - this adds a bonus to experimentation. Where RIS is conerned, a crit fail in either place is too painful to bare. Then decide if you want an additional bonus added to exp or assembly, and do your crafting in a research or manufacturing center respectively. Many large cities with these specialties will either have a public crafting house up or have no qualms about you dropping little crafting house on their outskirts. Skill tapes and FS skills will also help, but both are a bit extreme and time-consuming to get if you do not have them already.

Edit: blasted keyboard giving me fits!

Also, if you're crafting full suits of RIS, I recommend splitting up the crafting over an extended period of time, to take full advantage of your food and drink

Craft until your stomach is full, take a break, and resume afterwards.

Thanks for all the info guys, I didn't know about the crafting stations going that high or haven't seen one. I just feel itsunfair to loose those extreemly rare components. I currently have an altNovice Shipwright 3/1/2/2 and get critical assembly's often haven't once lost the resource yet.

Its dead easy to replace 20k steel etc GDK Scales, Woollymander bones are not.Its just the crazy amount of trouble it took me to gather them.

Thanks again

Crits often come in pairs, so if you are crafting something like RIS you shouldn't try again right after on crit. Go make something else and come back.

Hey if you're on Bloodfin look me up ingame perhaps we can work together and possibly even get you a guild. I've got a +44 station in my house, if you're looking for one try KetFlair outside Theed on Naboo. They're to the NW of Theed about 1.5k. They generally have a vendor well stocked with crafting stations. Thats where I got mine.

Ok I went looking for a crafting station last night I found a +42 it was 150k! Thought that was a litter expensive?

Ilatzimep - Thanks for that I'll try Ketflair tonight and I'll look you up next time your online. I managed to buy 2 woolymander bones last night so I still have a chance of making leggings, boots. Think I need to speak with someone on Bloodfin who has made RIS before I'd like to get a little higher than 63% base this time. Though I still cant make it I'm out of the small amount of Tulasian Fiberplast I had and no one seems to mine it.

Still think it should spit the loot back on Critical Assembly though..

Thanks again

I take it you mean crit fail on assembly.

Just FYI, there is also a crit success.
