I've been a MA for a while, but haven't ventured too much outside some of my basic armors. I've seen references to people selling 80/80 kin/elec with 70 base. My question is how to you achieve that? Since I've been collecting resources for over a year, I've got some of the best. My two layered Kinetic composite is 80/71 kin/elec and 58 base. I believe my layers are 12-13% kinetic.
How do I reach the 80/80 with 70? Will just added an electricity layer do the trick? What do my layers need to look like?
Thanks in advance.
p.s. still just a 10pt armorsmith.

The above statement explains why you are missing your target......
- Use 3 layers not 2 - no chance of hitting anything near 70% base with 2 layers - do not put anything into special at first because it will probably be just wasted.
- In the layers max the base (middle row) first then the rest into HAM (top row)
- In the segments and final experiment the same as layers
I am guessing you will result in armor at leat 67 / 68% base and 80% kinetic. If you want 80% elec also you will need to put a couple of points into special (bottom row) on the segments - this will hit HAM little.

Appreciate your answer. I knew I'd have to use a third layer to get 70% base, but wasn't sure if it was a third kinetic layer or not. I'm surprised you don't put at least one point or two on the bottom row on the kinetic layer. In general, what does the kinetic % on the layer need to be in order to hit 80%? I had been assuming 6-7.

My layers start at 4% kinetic (well 4.66 as we will see) and when I make the segments this on its own gives me 14% kinetic.... This pushes me past the 80% cap.... (base 70% and kin 14% would = 84%)

ahhhhhh...I think the lights have come on. I hadn't messed with my base much on the layers before. I was mostly worried about HAM and Kinetic. This makes sense. I guess I'll have to have different schematics layers for Ubese and Composite, but this information is very helpful.

Hello,
In order to achieve 80/80 and 70%+ Base, you need kenetic layers of 4% (above 80% experimentation on the Base) and 4.5% on the kenetic resist on 3 layers.
The best suit I have achieved, and I have been an AS for 10 months and have had the BEST resources the server could offer was 80% Kenetic/80% electric/72% Base ( and that is as a 10 point crafter)
Please feel free to reply if you would like further detail

Thanks for the reply Wai'Kohn. This is good information. I can't wait to see what my resources produce.

i am on the wanderhome server and my armor comes out
80 kinetic 80 acid 80 electric and 71% base. i am a 12 point smith and this makes a huge diffrence in acheving these stats.
since you can only use3 layers, depeniding on which 2 layers you use for the segment scematic will depend on which ONE layer you will have to fenagle a bit. 2 layers of kinetic will give you a high kinetic special protection but will lower your base drastically. Base has alot to do with the special protections unlike ubese.

I never experiment into special effectivness.
On layers you max out base and put rest in lowering the HAM cost. ON segments you do the same and on the final armor you do the same. =)
This gives me 80% kinetic, 80% elec and 72% base. With an enhancment like janta hide I get 77% base with that, yummy ![]()

12% is too high on Kin layers, Need at least 4% on the Kin layers

acually a 12 point smith has ZERO bonus to make 80/80/70 armor there is no difference in a 12 vs 10 for this set up. Where the 12 point smith takes the leap ahead is in ham reduction in this particular suit of armor.
Now that being said there are many other ways 12 points smiths are better but this aint one of them. now if you are using multiple layers of differnt types, and still shooting for high base, and high layer, say energy, kin, stun set up, then yea a 12 point smith has a big advantage.
