Thread: Armor stats?
I'm looking at a lot of mabari armor on the bazzar, and all the protections look like they're actually worse than my bone armor. That can't be right, can it?
Also the armor rating is still one. That doesn't seem like there's much advantage to get the next class of armor, but I know that can't be right, can it? I know some people might be selling junk armor on the bazzar, so is there a recommended "stat level" for buying specific levels of armor? Anyone who knows, it would be great if you'd write up a guide on it.
There is one word to describe the problem: experimentation
Bone armor is buildable by every Artisan, a master Artisan can put in 11 Experimentation points to increase armor.
Every other armor is only buildable by Armorsmith. But for this armor you cant use *normal* experimentation points, you need Armor experimentation points.
As long as the Armorsmith dont get the experimentation skill he can just use 1 EXP point to increase Armor.
Same goes for other Artisan elite professions.

Well...
I have a Prima Official Strategy Guide and it list Armor as having a "Generic Effectiveness" rating, but when you look at the armors in game there is no mention of a "Generic Effectiveness". Based on my Armor use, I beleive they are listing the Base Effectiveness of armor in the examined stats window because i am getting alot more than 5% of damage blocked for Mabari. Another thing that, I think, supports this is the fact that when you examine a piece of armor the stats listed are under special protections.
By the Way, the Official Startegy Guide list:
Bone Armor 10% Generic Effectiveness
Chitin Armor 15% Generic Effectiveness
Composite 20% Generic Effectiveness
Marine/Trooper 30% Generic Effectiveness
Mabari isn't listed ???
The first stat "Special Protection"(not sure cause servers are down) is the only one that can be tweaked by an Armorsmith.

DMaster0 - The other thing not directly dealt with by the others is:
Bone protects against Energy ie. blasters. So while it may have higher percent protections, it has 0% protection against Kinetic (Creature attacks)
So if you are engaged in more PvP or missions that involve blaster fire, bone is the better armor. But if you are dealing more with creatures or brawlers, then the other is better.
