God I'm so close to making 80% kinetic padded I can taste it.... Ive been trying various combinations of layers to get the base and special up........ double experimented 14/2(91%/43%)kin layers get me 77% kinetic on the final combine... I guess 12 points really is needed to make the best stuff

My last attempt at padded turned out nice with rancor hides butI was cursed by the slice gods and got 7 eff slices and 1 encum slice on the suit... lol 500-600 HAM padded suit.

Im going to take faded_one's advice and drop some base krayt scales into this stuff... anybody else play around with padded?

You need to raise your kin layer base (a la better rsources or more expt points) and pray to the resource gods. Padded base resists get really funny around 50%. It takes very large resource improvements to get to 51+% needed to get 80 kin.

I make 80/51 with great and good resources, but only get up to 80/53 with the best of every resource that has spawned (100 points better than what I use for 80/51 in about half of the slots).

I think getitng up to 12 expt points will allow you to add at least 2 more points to base (and hence Kin). My kin layers are 14/3, or 96%/52%.

You could get stuck at the agonizing 79% point that I was in for a few months while waiting for decent yavin wool to spawn.

You appear to be doing everything the same as I do, though Just a matter of resource specifics and extra experimentation.

PS: In addition to krayt scales, voritor scales are a great cheap way to bridge the gap to 80 kin while you work on getting more expt.

Well if it helps my base unlayered seems to be 44%.... my corellian fiber, cubric and duralloy steels are weak.... everything else is 850 oq/sr and in some cases +950.... Oh well im just using some of the odd enhancements I have laying around to make a couple suits... kinda a PITA but might as well use em... thanks for hte info.

oh ya I was mistaken on the 91/43 layers... those are 13/2... but its a high 13.... I can make 14/2 layers but the base is lower... and I basically waste 5% experiment points ( (94% max)) /frown

Went ahead and made 5 suits(minus helmof padded out of various enhancers... (vort scales, janta hides, rancor hides etc) got it all sliced... wow... out of 40 pieces I got one full suit of encum sliced and another half suit... everything else got high eff sliced (IE 80 kin 20 blast 67% base )

Total ham with the lightest pieces with no helm is 418/481/311... 403 avg. Just light enough to wear unbuffed (I have 550 in my secondaries on my rifleman)... and as a plus it has STYLE.

Another note....padded works like comp, in that a final point into dura or special on the final combine will raise the special a bit.

I like using stray enhancers in padded since six of the pieces take only one segment. Makes it really easy to drop the ham with stray shards. I think you mentioned that was your goal all along, but 80 kin was a higher priority, so congrats on getting 80kin with nice encum slices
