I have heard some anecdotal evidence that the 4 piece suit doesn't work anymore.. is this true?

I'm not an AS, just a dedicated master looter, and I can tell you for a fact that the 4 piece suit still works unless you're fighting NS's, and then all armor is broke. I personally wear an 8 piece suit (skip the trousers cause I like my BE cammies too much) and they were hitting my health and mind for full efect, despite melee toughness and armor (all my armor was primo condition and the chicks weren't carrying stun batons). It seems as though they decided that NS's need extra-super-duper heavy AP on all their weapons.

Seems to be working fine. I was tanking GDKs last night in hopes of gettingsome scales with no problems.

as far as I know 4 piece suits will prolly continue to work until they do a major change to armor (ala Combat Upgrade)

12 GDKs + 3 1/2 hours of my time = no drops
Couldn't find a Krayt last night either. Two buff sessions and didn't see a single spawn.

i have been an armorsmith for quiet some time now but am new to this concept of 4 piece armor. just some questions if someone can help me out here.
is 4 peice armor exactly the same as a full suit of armor?
does this apply to all armor and all types of protection in pve and pvp or just composite?
i heard of wearing BE clothing for this to work, is this true and can someone give me an example of what kind of BE clothing and wherepeople need to wear this?
what 4 pieces make this a 4 peice suit?
and is this a bug, exploit or what?
and is it ok if i sell and promote this stuff?
In my personel opinion since i am an armorsmith, I belive this is a load of crap. How dare the devs not fix this problem if it is a bug. This takes away from the sale of a full suit. so now from a 200k suit, armorsmiths will only make 100k for the same protection??? where are you devs taking this game.
of course if i can make this stuff belive me i will not hesitate to jump on this and completly stop making full suits of composite.
no wonder i havent been selling arm armor as much lately

4 piece suits take advantage of the armor hole work around devs developed where armor looked at the gloves, boots, chest, and helmet to see if armor is protecting your arms, legs, chest, or head. It then takes damage from those pieces whenever you get hit in those areas. The advantage to not wearing a 4 piece suit is your armor will last significantly longer as you have 5 more pieces to take damage, but you will have a higher encumberance cost and suit cost. Trandoshians also cannot take advantage of a 4 piece suit as they cannot wear boots or gloves, however they can use a 5 piece varient with pants and two bracers, however because they have their feat and hands open to attack they can still take damage.
This works for all armor types as far as I have been able to tell, although I have only tested it with ubese, composite, and padded. There is one known flaw is what type of pants you where, skirts are known to take damage to the legs because they cover the boots, and so you can have damage cut through, while normal pants and shorts (even hawpants *shudder) will work.
High high end NPCs like nigth sisters and Super Battle Droids not only are you advised to wear a full suit since it will last longer, but some of their attacks have more of a chance to go through with a 4 piece then a full suit, yet even a full suit some attacks seem to go strait through killing many frustrated people in one hit.
Also in PVP there are some attacks that can take advantage of 4 piece wearers and penetrate their armor.

Care to elaborate? I have ZERO reports of any non-lightsaber attacks bypassing 4-piece armor wearers, and a huge percentage of my long-time customer base PvPs daily.

I have hear (not personallytested mind you) that certain action damaging leg shots can bypass armor if you're not wearing armor pants.

I've witnessed tests using the polearm and carbine leg / action hits on folks with just boots, no leggings, and the boots blocked all hits.
That's actually how I stumbled across the 4-piece suit phenomenon.

TKM /combo1 and /combo2 used to whip right thru a 4 piece suitbecause of its random hit placement. its a rarely used attack, but TKM PvP pros might grin when they see you in a 4 piece suit. I am unsure if the attack still works like this tho.
