Forgive my ignorance since I am not an A.S.

I am notcing Armor decaying much faster, and the PA's forumsI am associated with (as well as a few others) on Starsider are screaming with posts that the decay on armor has been extremely accelerated..... on top of this AS's w/in my PA are begining to abandon the profession do to the even higher time sink it now takes to make armor for SWG.

We are also noticing that Faction Armor is far superior to regular armor....but costs a ton more due to time taken to make it, the resources needed to forge it and the Faction Points needed to simply be able to use it....... all in alll it APPEARS a rather poor situation for those that love to wear armor.

1) is any of this true?

2) if true, are we looking at armor basically not being employed by many players since its high costs, high decay rate and high time sink in making it will drive players not to utilize it?

I've noticed armor decaying much faster.. And "decent" repairs are almost impossible. We have 100% armor repair tools (100.0) and we have yet to get anything better than "Marginal" and got quite a few "failures" taking the armor to 1/1.

As for "time sink" I dunno.. My AS finds making armor Easier now than it was before.. other than the fact that you cant just run composite and nothing else..

the reason armor decays much faster now than before is because it blocks less. The formula for armor dewcay is based off of damage that goes through your armor and you recieve and not damage blocked by armor. This means that the high resists armor is the less it decays, and the lower resists it is the faster it decys. Because of 80-90% comp, armor would only have roughly 20% or so of the damage (give or take depending on several factors) go through, which means there would only be a small portion of damage to decay your armor. Now because most armor is roughly around the 35-50% resist range (some higher some lower) there is a significantly more amount of damage coming through, which means that your armor will decay much more faster.

If you have armor with 6k rating for example, then it would block roughly 48% of incoming damage. That means 52% of damage is coming through and decaying your armor. Which is much higher than the 20% we where so used to readily having available.
