What does an Armorsmith use Nightsister Shards for? How many do you need for a set of armor and are the following stats any good for Nightsister Shards...

Health -18
Action -14
Mind -14

And I have 11 identical ones...are these of any use to an Armorsmith?

They are used to make lower encumberence armour, e.g the ones you have will produce an armour -18 health -14 action and -14 mind lower. You can only make so many with them, e.g 4 will equal a chest plate, 3 helmet or pants, etc. Mostly they aren't worth it for the average armour, but they can be useful.

You actually need one more than stated, as most armour needs factory-identical segments. Which means you need one additional item to make the schematic

Using your 11 in a factory schmatic would net 10 segments, enough for a chest, leggings and a helm. While not a sigficicant HAM savings in themselves, getting enough for an entire suit can save you over 100 HAM, which can be the difference between wearing a suit relatively comfortable, barely or not at all. I made myself a suit using many nightsister layers and 30s nightsister shards, and even with effectiveness slices on the chest helm and leggings the suit is much lighter than my previous fully encumbrence sliced suit. Thanks to the negative action on the layers and good shards, the action is 0 on the gloves, boots, arms, and helm ans is mininal on the other peices. The entire action encum for the whole 9 peices is 170. Expensive as hell to make, but very light and very high protections.
