Thread: Need important armor info that I can't find anywhere.

So I'm a Rodain, and a Rifleman to boot which means my Heath stats aren't exactly the best for wearing heavy armor in the first place. The local vendors are all full of Composit, which looks great for high-end stuff but doesn't work at all for when I want to log in and run missions for half an hour (I'd rather kill stuff than spend all my time looking for buffs). For that I need something that I can wear unbuffed; resistances aren't as important as HAM cost but I need to avoid vulnerability to Energy and Kinetic. So I'm looking around at what armor I can find trying to come up with a workable mix, and I stumble across some Tantel armor. I think "this is light, and doesn't have vulnerabilities even if the resists are low. looks like exactly what I'm looking for in a casual hunting suit." What ticks me off is I didn't get any indication whatsoever that I couldn't wear the helmet until AFTER I paid good money for the thing and tried to equip it.
I've looked everywhere I can think of and can't find a listing of what races can wear what armor. Where might I find such a list?
Also if anyone has advice on a good suit of armor for an unbuffed, casual-playing Rodian Rifleman I'd be glad to hear it.

I hate to tell you this, but Composite is the best armor period. Until that changes, we're all stuck.
From your specific requirements of high energy and high kinetic resists, you're pretty much limited to Composite. Padded could work, but with the costly usage of wooly hide into the Padded Armor Segments, you might was well use it in composite instead. Ubese has a high kinetic but a low base effectiveness. Mabari, Chitin, and Bone armor resists are all around low, so it won't fit your needs either.
However, there is hope. You can get an armorsmith to custom make some "unlayered" composite. Most races can wear this type of composite without buffs (if you're migrated correctly). Once you get this suit, get a Master Smuggler to slice it for you and hope for encumbrance slices. I personally perfer wearing this type of armor withresist slices because its light enoughto wear with little or no buffs ANDthe base effectivenessbefore slicing is about59%-63% before slicing. After average effectiveness slices you'll hit 73%-78% base effectiveness (which is where energy & kinetic resists are because its unlayered).
In order to make it more attractive to the Armorsmith to create this custom order for you, order2-3 of these suits because you're gonna need the extra pieces anyway because Smuggler slices are 50/50 chance. Unlayered takes much less time to produce so expect to pay slightly less than normal grinding composite with 80% kinetic 70% base.

Thanks for the reply. I'll definintely keep that in mind when I'm putting together a suit for big hunts and such.
Right now I don't so much need high resists as a lack of vulnerability. For grabbing a quick mission in town I just want the 50% damage reduction all armor gives without gimping my stats. All this I can tell from the listed stats on the armor, so I can shop around for something that meets my needs.
What I can't tell from what's listed on the vendor is if I'm allowed to equip the dern thing. Is there a list of what I am allowed to wear as a Rodian?

Go to someone who sells sliced armor and buy all the 80% kinetic stuff that got effectiveness slices, likely it is the cheap stuff
wear a 4 peice suit (helmet/chest/gloves/boots)
that should work fine

Voritor maberi or Voritor bone, gives you what you're looking for, with ham under 100 per stat. Look on the bazaar, and see the names of the maberi makers. Contact one, if there isn't voritor armor on the bazaar. If necessary, buy some voritor SCALES off the bazaar, or segments if you're buying bone. Both with have resists to energy and kinetic, and dirt cheap.

I would suggest you also look into some good chitin armor as well. You'll find most good smiths can get over 60% kinetic on it which is good for hunts, and when sliced can be very, very low encumbrance.

a 4 peice effectiveness slice comp suit is less than 300 each stat and very wearable unbuffed with much higher condition and resists than bone or chitin
