That seams like its gonna rock...
Hmm does this mean ham on armor is gonna become a big factor?
love the fact that just having armor is base to all forms of attack and layers are stacking damage for alternate atacks like heat, cold, acid i think it will make armor with other layer types instead of the normal stun, energy, kin.. hmmm heat, blast on assult.. cold, acid on recon, anything goes on the battle..
those loot drops now might be worth something.. all those sharnaf plates or rancor segs hmmm adding one to a suit of padded or ubese might really be interesting. Ohh got some sweet krayt hides with some +17 and some other really high % battle armor?? Hmm biker scout armor with that.. sounds really tempting
Does advanced bone, and geo-bone now seam like a really nice option?
Does RIS now become battle armor? or asualt? Im thinking assult as it has kin as its main protection now.. i dont see it changing.Does this mean RIS will now become the light battle armor increasing its vaule?
With schems like Interwoven-RIS and Interwoven-bone schems now really increase the effectiveness of those armors even more than the do now?I can imagine no ham RIS or geo-bone armor with great protection with the kill in buffs, which i love : )
Any idea when this is going live??
I think im gonna sell off what little stock i have as ive been in retirement for a while and wait this seams like a huge change but a very exciting one as far as an armorer goes. month after this exp goes live im guessing?

The bit I find interesting is....
So armor made with non adv segments has no down sides........

Wearing advanced armor will apply de-buffs to your character such as slower movement, accuracy penalties, etc. Armor with basic cores will not apply de-buffs.

i think advanced armor means.. anything above clothing... not the type of seg as there is no way to know what type of seg was used in the creaton.. just as there is no way to know if an enhancer was used... the final build is a % how it goes there has no meaning..

Do you guys/gals think armor will be available for my brother's Pets? It'd be a interesting idea as well expanded market for Armorsmiths, rangers, ch's, and many others.

I dont understand this:
We will convert all existing weapons, armor, factory crates, and schematics to use the new combat data wherever possible.

Some Items are so out of ballance they are going away. The RUMOUR is this is mainly high end looted weapons but thats just a forum rumour so far.

This opens a perfect niche for RIS.
With other armors having a "give and take" system, having the Rare RIS could actually MEAN something, IF they allow on RIS only, one protection to be raised without any others suffering, like the other armors. Okram, I'd like for you to push HARD for this - it would mean RIS lives up to the "Epic Armor" status that the devs have assigned to it.
Also, think about how this will give new meaning to even base loot, like krayt scales and NS layers. Those "should" be able to raise resists again, without the give and take. It means no loot is "useless" anymore.
Okram, can you confirm these for us? If so, I am liking this new system already.

It would be nice, but I am not expecting it......
Also pet mounted weapons / shields like on ep1

They were given a hard deadline by Lucas Film for the CU and new expansion to be out the door with EPIII. I would take that comment to mean, if we have time to convert then we will, otherwise you are SOL. I see many of the small things not being converted, like looted segments or rancor bile. They aren't imporant in the big picture and with little time, why bother.

I agree, RIS armor should be one of those rare epic suits ( unlike my black mountain armor, man naboo wooly ishard to get lately)
Would love to see all those armor enhancers ( krayt and NS shards n layers) to be that bonus.
I already enhacers to give it that little "Umph"

I disagree. Just because it deletes the layers we use as they become segments, and the segments as they become armor, doesn't mean that you couldn't (from a programming standpoint) keep that meta-data as part of the final product. So, yes, I can *totally* see there being a difference between armor made with Advanced segments vs. armor made with basic segments. It seems that the point of the CU for armorsmiths, mostly, is to make us diversify. Right now, Comp is the killer armor that everyone uses with few exceptions. But add on Armor Certs, the new armor classes (recon, battle, assault), and now, draw a difference between Ubese (lightweight) and Advanced Ubese (better protection, heavier weight)...
well.. if I was designing the CU, I'd do something like this... I mean, really... besides tantel (required), does *anyone* make non-advanced armor at all?
