Thread: What they should have done! (My rant)

This is what I think SOE should do for our profession. Instead of nerfing us and taking away our individualality, they should change it to make us even more unique. Add more layers specificly for armor type. Light, Medium, and Heavy. And add two more bars for expiramentation, not make us all the same with just 1 line of expiramenting.

They think Armorsmithing was easy? It takes me hours to fill my factories. Then they increase the requirements for hide? What the hell! I spend a ton of money on hide. Armorsmithing, Crafting, and loading factories is a pain, and thats why we charge what we do. Everyone seems to think Crafters have it easy and make a ton of money. But I have to spend just as much on resources. I just had a hide spawn and paid 85 cpu and got 1.3 million units of it. Thats 110.5 Million credits gone in a week! With what I charge for armor I'd have to sell 316 Suits of Kinetic Comp... Or 221 Suits of Stun... Or 245 Suits of Quadruple 80%.. Just to break even! not to mention all my other resources? I have 25 Factories pumping out armor all the time. Its a pain to do it, I'm proud of my armor and that I'm one of the Top 5 Armorsmiths on my server. Now some new guy can make the same stuff I can? Even whan I spent 40 mil on my 12point suit?

I was a MAS for 3 months before I had the resourses to make comp. I've been here for a long time. I have hundreds of millions in armor resources, I could make a few thousand suits of comp currently. My resource stockpile is massive and has taken me one and a half years to collect. It is something I am very proud of, now the Devs are changing everything... Not everyone is going to be certified for Assault armor, there goes my resources, I thought I'd never use them all and now I really won't, I dont know what resources are needed for anything right now... It seems Medium armor will be in the highest demand, but I don't even know if that takes padded resources.. or even what padded resources are!?

But if a Dev reads this, you will kill the economy, I'll charge 10 times as much just for the hassle, and normal players will never have armor. If SOE wants to piss off all their customers and just shut down SWG, they're well on their way. Maybe they want us all to play EQ2, which I'll never do, so they might have lost my 75$ a month.

The CU looks cool for fighters, but this is a slap in the face for we Armorsmiths. This makes me want to delete my accounts and sell off my Jedi.

Wow. 1.3 million units of hide?I'm lucky to have a stack of 5k laying around! My largest stack was 16k, but my friend got that for me (thanks Zenny - she's gone now, got bored of the jedi grind, and we've both been here since late July 2003.)

110.5 million in expenditures? I've got a total of 6 million right now. I charged a fair price (usually half what the competitor sold it for!)

$75 bucks? Yikes! I only got 1 account (But I did unlock, but though the jedi system was dumb,I don't like pvp. I opted to remain an armorsmith instead of going Jedi if that says anything about what my favorite profession is! My first holocron said armorsmith and I kept it through 24 other professions.)

40 million for a crafting suit? Eek, I'm using a hand-me-down suit that is borrowed. I found a +5 experimentation tape once, and my private suit is only +11. Even at +11, I could still run with the big 'smiths because I had good resources and knew what I was doing.

25 factories? Gah... I have 2 of them and I hardly ever run them anymore. I borrow some now and then when I feel like making stock.

316 kinetic composite suits? 221 suits of stun? 245 suits of quad 80%? I sold a dozen suits a week along with whatever trinkets I found from NPCs. Inever hurt for sales or really wanted more credits, what sold was enough to make ends meet and it was fun. I never thought AS was a job, something I had to do. I had a loyal customer base, at my height probably 30 repeat customers, many of which contracted me to make special suits for them.

As you can see, we're two totally different kinds of Armorsmiths... except one thing.

I think we agree 100% that the CU changesare unacceptable.

What they should have done was just to get rid of the insane Doc buffs (which they do). Then encumbrance would become an issue again and you would see even more diverse armors being crafting. And if need be, they could cap the protection at, say 70%.

You realy acompleshed some thing Vizzer. It was my dream to be 10-20% of what you are. But thats going now.

I honered my bid in an auction today. I paid 3 million credits for a +13 armor assembly tape. My suit is now 20 exp and 17 assembly. I was on my way.

Fine crafting is going out the door. Should have seen it coming. Shipwright should have been great. It could have been great. Now AS will be as pointless as SW or DE. But accourding to Blixtev, fine crafting is an "abuse" of the game.
