Thread: Can someone explain how damage works VS Restances ?

ok if you have armor with 5000 kinetic with a condition of 100k
and i go in combat against a Kinetic dealing foe.
i can seein combat window for example
chestplate absorbed 500 damage out of 1000 hit total damages received = 500
where does the 500 damage go.
taken off condition? absorbed into armor
where did the 500 not absorbed go.
go health ? actual damaged received.
how does the 5000 kinetic come into play ? 50 % = 5000 ??
the numbers are all examples not real numbers.
why im asking is , i made a chest plate last night and put more points into condition instead of maxing special resitance.
the chest plate came out with like a
5200 Kin.
5200 Eng.
4700 on the rest. the odd part was a condition of 161k
now depending on effect of damage VS restances it might be better to get a suit of armor with real high condition and lose a little on the specials. if u look at repairing a few extra times VS buying new armor.
expesally since the increase decay since the CU.
so if i lose 20 % per repair at 160k starting point this would mean i can take 777482total damage for life time of armor
or 20% lose at 20% repair on 100k armor 485926
for the small decrease in kin restance almost double the life of the armor.
logically i would go for the 160k armor with a little less restance.
this theory depends on how damage is distrubted in game.

Yeah, there is a big writeup in the sticky at the top of the forum which goes into decay. I can't find it in the document, but it was basically saying the amount of damage you take (not the amount absorbed) comes off the armor. It's probably not a 1:1 ratio, but yeah, it decays VERY fast.

5500 kinetic is a diminishing returns value of the protection level. See this link.
With regards to the increased decay, I beleive the reason for that is they did not change the formula on how decay is worked out. Bascically, pre-CU, the armor decay was calculated based on the amount of damage taken. Since armor no longer protects 80%+ damage, it decays faster.

thanks thats a nice link about armor.
any thoughts or links on how damage is distrubted.
absorbed comes off condition ?
balance comes off health. ?
