I decided to go ahead and respec to Marmor/Martisan/Mmerchant/Novice brawler and save the rest of the points of FS if I ever grind that out (for increased assembly). What my question is, Is there any guide out there that explains how the layers, cores, etc work? I've searched for about 2-3 hours but still do not quite understand how it all works. I know I'm sort of a respec n00b, but I have done crafting before. I did the master chef pre-cu and had fun with it, but not enough funding.
I should have about 17mil or so by the end of the week. Any suggestions on what resources on corbantis (and for that matter, what named resources) to get me started? I would mainly just like in general some help
Anyone going to be on tomorrow around 11 est that wouldn't mind me talking to them in game? That would actually help a whole bunch. Thanks in advance for any help.

hmmm not off the top of my head, how about I explain it here?
There are 4 steps in armor.
Layers, Segments, Cores, Appearance.
Layers go into segments, which goes into cores, which goes into aperance.
First and foremost, layers are optional, and you can get by quite well without them. However if you are gonna set yourself up to try to make the best of the best then you will use them. They are expensive, and take a ton of resources. The reason is because you have a multiplication factor.
A full suit of armor takes 11 cores, and if you use advanced cores takes 3 segments, which if you use full layers takes 4 of them. So a full suit takes 11 cores, 33 advanced segments, and 132 layers. As you can see, that's a TON of layers for a relativly small gain. But let's put economics aside, shall we?
Layers increase the resistance of segments. Segments increase resistance and condition of cores. And cores are relativly the stats of your final appearance, with generally a bit of a bonus, and depending how good of resources you use how much condition you will have.
So in conclusion, layers are optional stuff you use to make your armor stronger. It is an optional component of segments, which adds more protection to your armor. Segments are components of armor cores, which are the main beef of your armor. And it is all brought together into the final appearance of the armor which you sell to the customer.
Get all that?

That was great! So when someone says unlayered sets for 450k, as a 10pt smith can I expect to get close to this? Also, off the top of your head (since I am not in game right now, and won't be till tomorrow), can you tell me what resources it usually takes for say a set of comp and a set of ubese? Thanks alot.

hey I'm in game right now (windowed mode with two monitors, helps a lot!)
10 point smiths will be able to get jsut fine if you have decent resources. You just might have a lil less condition is all.
Let's see, composite is assault, so you will be using assault segments and cores, ubese is recon, which will be using recon segmetns and cores.
So...
Composite:
Assault Segments:
steel, iron, polymer, scaley hide
Advanced Assault Cores:
Dant wooly, Dath Fiberplast, Intrusive Ore, Kammris Iron, Mythra Copper, Amorph Gemstone, 3 assault segs.
Composite Armor Appearance:
Wooly Hide, Solid Petro, synth cloth, RFP, assault armor cores
Ubese:
Recon Segments:
Steel, Copper, Fiberplast, Leathery Hide
Advanced Recon Cores:
Lok Leathery Hide, Naboo Fiberplast, Polymer, Carbonite Steel, Link-Steel Aluminum, Crystalline Gemstone, 3 assault segs
Ubese Armor Appearance:
Leathery Hide, Steel, Synth Cloth, RFP, Recon Armor Cores

Okay, and for good grinding suits which is usual to make? Advanced or standard? I would assume for high resist ones to layer and stack the advanced on there.
I'm going to bed now, need to get up earlier, but I do need to know one last thing. (well okay a few). First off, I read about factory apperance runs being broken, so that means to color not to do any runs at all? Also how do I color my suits, do I need anything special for that? Last thing, and it is really confusing! I read about enhancers with +50 health cap. What exactly is this, how doe sit effect the suits, is it a big deal for "grinding" suits, and why on earth would you put peko peko albatross feathers in a suit (that needs 11? if I read it right, maybe even more!) that average 100-200k on my server. As you can see, I feel clueless! lol
Thanks alot for hte info so far, and have a good night!

okay... lotta questions, but hey that's what we're here for.
#1: don't worry about enhancers right now. They are a pain, hard to do, and really only for special instances. I'd just hold off on 'em till your much more comfortable with the system.
#2: Factory wise colors are a broken for anything that uses the metalic color pallete (the shiny part on the mabari chest for example) it doesn't effect everything, but some types of armor it does. And to be honest I wouldn't do factory runs much because there are so many combos of armor now and since all types are relativly equal, people will want a good selection, which will require lots of different types of armors.
#3: I'd go with advanced unlayered for your usual grind armor. It's got good enough resists to do well and nice condition, and way cheaper then layered. Anything less really isn't worth making.
