Thread: Gurks and Kimos (hunting techniques and thoughts?)

I know there are other threads on this, but i'm talking right now, not a few months ago. The GDK spawn rate seems to be nil, I usually drive from the imp base to the volcano and then wander around, see plenty of dune kimos and dune vs enraged spawns, but never any GDK's. It's been a good month since ive seen any wild ones. Where do you hunt them on your server? Any good areas i'm missing?
Also i'm concerned about the gurk hide drop rate. I've slain probably twenty reclusive gurk kings and I finally got my first hide today. Is this the norm? I was under the impression that it was a higher drop rate, similar to the harrower bone fragment.
Am I doing something wrong?

The feathers....don't forget the feathers...those birds have an awesome area attack.

Just need one feather, i'm planning on using nightsister layers so i'll just need the single to complete the quest

I have killed probably 50 GDK in this game and have NEVER gotten a RIS scale..i have all the gurk hides required, i hav all the bone fragments required, I am shout about two feathers..and no..let me empasize that NO...GDK RIS scales. You asked if your doing something wrong? Yes...you are trying to build one of those RIS suits which aren't really fit to fight in the the first place..just for looks. So ideally what you do is make a RIS suit...put it on...and then drive around in your AV-21 car....that should really be an awsome sight...and give the crowd a good laugh.

I've killed maybe 40-50 total, two scales but I sold them both because I didn't think i'd be collecting them for a RIS suit. They are out there, just gotta find the GKDs first!

Im training my Master Armorsmith character as a ranger also with tracking 4, then Im using him to track GDK for my fighter to kill.

There was a sweet spawn at the mouth of the cave on the volcano.... 15 mins before reset -_-
Got three killed, but another spawned and exploited via server reset getaway. =(

i hate the drop rates on RIS components.
over 200 killed woola harrowers. about 30 frags.
over 100 killed gurks. about 10 hides.
about 30 killed GDKs no scales.

1/10 on the gurks and even better on the woolamander frags... I think that is a very good rate for the items. With one drop rate far fewer than the rest, keeps the RIS under control. One of the better things the devs have done. If you could get a scale off 1/10 GDKs, you would definitely see more RIS pieces floating about. Would kinda remove the novelty of the items. Though, it also doesn't seem right that one of the higher level creatures to loot for the RIS components would have the lowest drop rate...
One of the few things the devs have under control... RIS production. =P
