after holo-grinding my way to master, i decided to call the grind thing quits. i thought armorsmith would be something cool and interesting to try. the only game ive played besides swg is ac, which had no crafting professions. so i thought i would give it a whirl and have some fun

well...2 and a half weeks later, i still only have half of the resources required to make composite. im broke, and im tired of searching player vendors for resources that they advertise, yet dont have. i cant tell you how many vendors ive visited that advertise bulk minerals, only to have 2k stacks for 20 cpu, that add up to about 1400 oq/sr tops. all of you fogies are bogarting the good stuff

i suppose after an amount of time, you get a stockpile of great resources together, but when certain resources only spawn every 6 months, the outlook for us newbs is grim. even if i managed to get ahold of another 5 mill credits, i would still have another 2-3 weeks of searching for more resources, just to make my first pieces of armor.

then on top of that, i cant afford 5+ factories, so id be stuck waiting 2-3 weeks for all of the different items to come through my 2.

can any of you tell me how you possibly managed to stick it through your first batch of armor? did you find something deep within yourself, some compelling force, driving you to make good armor? is it money alone?

First (and maybe second)month - Mabari and Chitin. 1 factory. A few wind generators and a few personal harvs. Experimented armor sold on Bazaar. Ran survey missions to pay for maint.

Month 2-3 - Anything but comp.(no Bery copper). Fusion gen (Thanks to a friend) several mediumchem and mineral harvs. 1 clothing factory and 1 equipment factory (made power-ups..sold on bazaar.)

month 4-current - Mostly comp, Ubese and Wookie. A bunch of heavy harvs. 1 fusion. 2 factories.

Almost all of my resources were harvested by me. I don't sell much armor, but I have fun fighting too.

Not being able to make quality armor is the price you're paying for grinding to master. It usually takes a few months to collect the needed resources. Even then....there's most likely been better. I would recommend finding something else to do while you collect resources.

hrm...i think some of my problems may stem from there...

im master armorsmith/master doc. so there really isnt much else for me to do besides crafting or buffing. i find buffing even more boring than i do vendor searching.

i think i may need to start playing my second account, and getting him up to a position where i can harvest my own hides. i know the current lokian and corellian wooly hides on scylla are decent. but at this point, i cant afford to buy much of it, and with my main's template, i cant get any of it myself.

Now he tells us he has a second account. /smacksforehead

I to have two accounts. My first is a Master Artisan/Master Armorsmith. With her I make my artisan items and armor. Use her lots for harvs to get my resources. I usually get at least BER 13-14harvesters for my resourcesand at least two BER 13-14 Fusion Generators for my power.

My second account is Master Doctor/TKM with some scouting skills. I use him to do money missions and harvest my hides and meats. He also makes good money selling buffs near the major starports. I also use his lots for my medium house, two Chem/Food Factories, two Clothing/Armor Factories and one Equipment Factory.

Hope this helps you out. =)

With a Master Doc you can (1) sell buffs or (2) sell meds to build a good bank account.

Use your 18 lots (keep 2 for a house) to place harvesters for good resources.

Hunt for your own hides and meats till you can afford to buy them.

Make armor when you have all the resources you need. Sell on Bazaar or set up your own vendors.

It's not a quick process, expect 3 months to get everything lined up. I remember I had to wait more than that for any Vertex Gems and Crism Ore to be available.

But once you do get it all worked out, then it's a good life from then on.

It takes a while to get good resources. Months basicly. You have to be patient. The spawn rate on some things seems to have been increased though, at least I think it has. Beyrillus copper used to spawn once every two months on kett, and there were many many loud and angry posts about how uncool that was. Recently Beyrillus spawned 3 times in a few weeks. Not sure if that was random, but who knows. Harvest your own resources, its many times cheaper. It means you have to wait, but thats the breaks.

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Had the same problem with Beyrllius. Was a master for a couple of months and couldn't make comp. Very frusterating.

Hang in there. It does get to the point where you don't have to jump on every spawn, because it's better than what you have.

easiest way to get resources? all of them?

get a combat professions. Any elite will do. Get some nice ubese armor. Go get buffed. Pop some food (different depending on profession). Get in a group. Go to dantooine. Do Janta/Mokk missions for 20-40k a pop. These take 5 minutes to do with your speeder and a good combat proffesion. You can make 300k an hour easy doing this if you hurry and clear 1 mill in a night no prob.

do this for a week and you have 7-10 mill.

go to your local trade forums and start buying what you need. I promise you can get anything there if you have the cash,

none of the 4 month plans, this is one week or less if you have the combat profession already.
