Thread: 21% Kinetic Armorweave a joke?

I am a new Master and consider myself a novice since i grinded the Prof with practice stuff.

I dont' have all the requisit resourses to make anything but Armorweave.

So I make it - give it away to visitors to my town and all that.

Recently I've been getting Mail from new players asking for prices on that armor.

I've been quoting 20k for 21% Kinetic suit - less the helm. - no neutronium.

I think 21% Kinetic is pretty decent for Armorweave and just perfect for new players.

What do you guys think? Am I way off here?

Im a master armorsmith, yet this is the armor I wear, Its less than 100/100/100 Encumb and has 15% Kinetic for me, Its just in case I get attacked while on my bike or something, it drops the damage in half and gives me a longer chance to run away.

lol - I wear it too.

But do you guys think 20k for a full set is reasonable? I do but I have little experience other then If I needed armor and had only 20k to spend on it I would. And there is a VAST price gulf between armor. Its a good low- midrange filler step to Ubese in my estimation.. *shrug*.

Plus new people are really interested and I can also slice it up or downwith my Master Smuggler alt.for like 4k or 24kand sort them into ultra light or 25% base Kinetic suits..

Im just waiting my turn with the spawns so after I fulfill my missing resourses I will stop making it but if its a waste of time even now then I'll stop and do PSGs in the mean time.

The problem is that it isnt really worth it monatarily to you.
At 20k Per set your not going to make hardly any money.

A 500k Kinetic Composite suit doesnt take 25 times as many resources or 25 times as much time to make, and is much easier to sell.

Oh I see what you mean. Resource-to-result is out of whack against Composite relitively speaking so I'd have to charge too much to catch up to profit levels 1/1 on par with Composite.

I am pretty much wasting my time and resources on Armorweave then.

(no wonder its only on the bazaar and 9%)

Is it worth it to you though anyway?

On Corbantis, Armani sells mabari (or did anyway, haven't looked in a while) that's a little better and a little pricier than yours which surely means it's not a complete waste (as for example trying to sell factory sets of padded).

There's a lot of people who can't afford even 150k for a composite suit but they can afford your armor. I can remember how thankful I was for Armani selling it when I was a newb because it was so much better than bazaar stuff

So, there IS a market for it, and you can make money. It just won't be the X million in X hours that the big guys get. Unless you have a great vendor location though you'll probably need to sell it on bazaar. Mos Eisley is good for that with all the new players starting there. I sold a bunch of 55% kinetic wookie armor and 58% kinetic chitin there made from throwaway resources

Also, unless you've been collecting the good composite resources we've seen lately it'll be a while before you can compete in the composite area. I've been collecting on Corbantis for the last 4 months or so and I'm only now getting close to the established smiths.

Btw, we had a decent bronzium spawn recently and I mined a lot more than I need. If that's what you need for good mabari send me a /tell when I'm on and I'll give you a bunch of it if you'll make more mabari.

There is a huge market for maberi. I specialized in it for months, until running out of bronzium forced me into the ubese market ( and axidite forced me into comp). Remember, composite is about a factory hogging armor. Maberi can be done completely without a factory ( although I ran my segments in a factory). I had the same profit margin for my maberi, as I did my ubese, and early composite. I charged 25k a set for adv maberi, and 50k a set for my krayt maberi.

20 k seems a fair price to me and will give you a profit of at least5 k per set if you buy your resources (30 cpu for hides/bones, 10 cpu for the rest)and a lot more if you harvest them yourself. Don't let the greedy ones (I think 500 k for any suit of composite is ridiculous)convince you of quitting your good work.

I have to agree with AegolinAdaron.

On Infinity, I have started a char for 2 month now, playing a little bit, and I am also doing some Mabari armor right now...
20k seems reasonable to me. If you would not have asked this question, I would

I bought my first composite armor a few days ago, after 7 month of playing (with my regular char on Kauri). And I did not use it right now lol.
(and yes, 500k for a comp is way too much I bought a real decent one for 380k...)

I've sold plenty of Mabari. It ran my harvesters for the first couple of months.

21% is a decent set. 20k will largely depend on server economics. I sold mine for around 12-15k..similar resists. 4-5 suits per day.

I think I'm going to take a look to see if it's available currently. The only thing that's kept me from continuing to stock it, is giving novices a chance at the market. I think the only reason mine sold (19-21%), is because the masters weren't providing it.

I had a guild order some custom work and I ran more than requested. Mainly so I wouldn't have to remake it for their future requests. They recently disbanded.I keep the crates in my droid and occasionaly give a set away when I see someone running gort missions.

Personally I am not even going to start to compete with the Composite makers on my server. I am working on high-quality 'lesser' armours. I sell Mabari on the bazaar that is up to 20% kinetic for the same prices others are charging at 9%. I sell alot of Chitin on the bazaar in Mos Eisley as well regardless of the quality. And the kinetic resists on that are around 30% as well. I like making deccent versions of cheaper armour, mainly because I wish the armour system wasn't so lop-sided towards Composite.

Tantel, Ubese, and decent Padded do well near Coronet, especilly for newer players that aren't noobs anymore. Not everyone wants to be a Compsite clone. I guess I'm not raking in the bucks like composite merchants are, but I'm also not working with a 500% profit margin either.
