Thread: New armorsmith .... resource frustration
Aye. bout the same for me. Before CU it took me a good 6 months bare minimum of harvesting and buying up resources before i was able to produce anything decent. And I still dont have some of the resoruces older AS have. And with the pricing for such resources on Bria the only suggestion I can really give is to work your way up, save up your money. And do nothing but sink it right back into your resources for the next year kinda thing and hope that a good spawn comes along.
That and even the established AS are having a hard time keeping the status quo. Armor takes up alot more resources than it used to. And frankly Bria hasnt seen many really good AS spawns in a while. At least not of any of the named resources save Lok leather. Which usually spawns something really good every few months.

Yeah, I find it helpful once in a while to get friends to drop harvesters for me.
Just for my end... I don't mess with secundus and tertius layers. So, it helps that I toss thoseoff my list of what I'm looking for.
My suggestion is focus on the good stuff, and realize that you won't be in mass production for a while. Look at advanced core drops if you want to craft for a bit, and sell that stuff at a lower price (they usually have core stats at 730, and once you have good resources, you'll easily break 900+) just to have your thumb in. Just stick one or two harvesters on bad spawns of required resources for the time being, and focus on the good stuff.
Be patient on resources. Don't burn crates too quickly if you have them.
Pick out one kind of suit to get really good with....like Energy Recon.....and build some sales with that.
Then shop ALOT and find upgrades to current resource builds. Ask experienced AS for help. On our server we (more experienced AS') will often hook a new AS up with some better stuff that is not always our top stuff. Remember the favor for when you are experienced and someone else is new. I know I have.
Don't forget the small fries.
While crafted Advanced Cores is our normal armor we make, there is also the Basic and Standard crafted Cores.
For those novice's just getting to the point where they can wear armor, or those veterans who want a cheap grind suit, I make armor using the 'Basic' Cores.
The crafted Basic Cores don't use any named resources so its' easier and cheaper to make.
This fills the niche to provide armor for the noobs and those who just want some armor before heading to a grind group at the Dant MO.
Then while your working on the gathering the resources for good advanced cores as well as layers; you can start filling up your vendors.
Other advice;
1. don't worry about layers intially,
2. don't forget the non-humans' (its' nice to have a wookiee player send me (pun-intended) a nice warm fuzzy for stocking wookiee armor),
3. any Advanced Loot Cores (the earlier post was very correct) work well,
4. and don't do just suits (make extra helmets, leggings and chest-peices and sell them individually).
Hope that helps,
Keg

I try to keep all of my lots used up in harvesters at all times. Either I'll have them on whatever spawn I can find of some named resource I need, or on high concentrations of just about anything else I can find. Harvesting is never a waste, even if I can't use the resource I can sell it to someone who can.
Use your "Crate of Free Resources" to identify your server best resources in the categories that matter. You can back out after seeing the stats of any resource ever to spawn on your server, by category and type. Do be careful to follow the screen instructions so as not to waste a crate on something undesirable, but check out your server specific bests in as many categories as you can.
Knowing what the best ones are helps out a couple ways. First, it lets you know what to shop for and whats worth paying for. Second, it lets you know better what to harvest. Third, checking resource history via the crate also shows chronology of resources (they are in order oldest to newest, top to bottom).
Some categories are very extensive, with many listings for all the times various types of a resource have spawned (i.e. chemicals, iron, etc.). Still, some are short and easy to scan through quickly (Jtl resources, Ores, Gems). Wherever you keep your "list" of Armorsmith specific resources (hopefully with relevant "gates" listed
) you should list in the top two or three resources of each. The information is extremely valuable.
