Thread: Tricks to getting 8k Energy Resists: Using Primus? Or No...

ie energy layers will cause kinetic resists to be lost so the primus layers that you would be mixing with would get negated by the energy layers. Feel free to test but its general concensus that this is a bad idea.
I disagree here Capt, still each to there own, this is just my opinion versus yours or course
. Sometimes a mixed primus/energy layer stack can work quite well if you make use of the non linear resist curve and try to maximise energy without killing kinetic too much. A 2 + 2 primus energy mix would allow you to get upto 7800 energy and also not tank kinetic down to the steep part of the resist curve.
For instance, with different build I could come up with the following recon stats using 95 and 45 energy and primus layers
As long as you can get into the 6Ks, it is not worth the aggrevation to get more. Diminishing returns suck and the difference between 6k and 8k+ is only a few small percent difference at the cost of a LOT of manufacutring time and good materials. No real point in trying to be an elite crafter these days when the practical return is so pathetically small.
The only way to get 8K+ energy resists is to use energy layers. Even withaverage resources you'll probably still get better energy resists than you will using even very good primus layers.

I have the best resources to ever spawn on the Corbantis server...and yet, the highest Energy resists I can get using Primus layers is around 7700-7800 on Recon. I have heard others from various servers getting 8k, but wondering: How is this possible? Are you using non-Primus layers and solely Energy Layers? The reason I haven't experimented much with Energy lairs is that I don't have the best resources for the layers for what they currently require...
If Energy layers are the way to go, then I can start collecting those resources...but I want to be sure by asking the 'smith populous. What about a Primus/Energy mix?
Thanks for your time.

Short answer no, pure pirmus build cant go over 7600
Unlayered energy recon cap is 7000. Perfect primus will add 600 on top of that so best with perfect layer resources would be 7600.
Maths is straightforward.
Primus layers add max 50 to kinetic/energy
Energy layers add max 100 to energy and subtract 100 from kinetic.
12 layers per advanced core for 12 x 50 = 600 and 12 x 1000 = 1200.
Substitue your layer valuesinto this formula and these numbers to your unlayered recon energy stat to work out you final layered result. e.g. your primus layer is 45 and energy is 90 so you will have 540 primus and 1080 energy.
For a primus/energy mix then just do a45 x ? +90 x ? sum.
