Thread: Want balanced stats. Kin layer recon/Ener assault or primus layered ?

I want an armor with balanced stats (energy/kinetic) and can only wear assault or recon. I could get energy layered assault or kinetic layered assault (guess that would balance the penalty) or should I just get primus layered assault or recon? If primus layered I will probably choose primus layered recon since I am a little bit more concerned with energy attacks than kinetic.

IMO even if there are probably more attacks with energy than kinetic (not counting creature mobs) there is still a lot of kinetic attacks so I think it is more useful to have balanced stats than maximing one stat over the other.

Primus layered raise 2 stats (not so concerned about elemental damage) so total protection on average is better than using energy/kinetic layered.

I'd vote for primus layered. Trying to balance recon and assault resists means you pay the price for layered armor but only get the protection of unlayered battle armor.

Or wear a good suit of assault and wear a PSG. No help against lightsabers though.

It is a lot of expense to go through get the same resists as unlayered battle armor. I know you have cert issues, so I'd probably recommend going with primus recon, or even 3x primus 1x kin recon to get something like 7200 energy 5700 kin 5700 base. If you have the money for two suits, go with full primus recon (pvp and general prupose) and full kinetic assault (used only for critter hunting). The difference between 7500ish and 8100ish in a stat is only 1-2% in the final resist, where you lose a good deal more in what you give up on the opposing resist.

personally when someone want's a balanced mix i go for

assault

8 * primus layers, 4* energy layers

recon

8* primus layers, 4* kinetic layers

this allow's it's original bonus boost to still be 7k but bump's the initial lower resist up.

Thank you.

With crafted BH armor coming with next publish I think that assault armor might become a lot more popular.

I guess that 3xPrimus + 1 kinetic could be changed for assualt to 3x primus +1 energy instead and you would get 7k kinetic and 5.7k energy. 5.7k is pretty decent and probably only around 6% lower resists than 7k

One option instead of having two full armor sets (cost is not a problem for me but inventory managementis worse) would be to have one full set (assault probably) and then helmet/pants with recon. That would be 2/3 of hit locations covered and if you are up against jedi (or riflemen) then there will be more head hits used than other attacks (cycling head hit/head shot with another special - with jedi 2h is probably the most common saber with DB comign second).

Hit locations are acting screwy, though. I did tests with full energy recon and full kinetic assault mixed suits and found some funny things. If I swapped the helmet out to the opposing suit type, the resists would still be the same even when using head shot. IE, full kin assault and full kin assault with full energy recon helm, both returned the same low resist when eyeshot was used with an energy weapon. Similarly, full energy recon and full energy recon with a full kin assault helm both returned the same high resist when eyeshot was used with the same energy pistol. We did each shot about 5 times before changing the armor configurations. The short of it is that something is not quite working right, so your idea about subbing in a few pieces might backfire.

Is eye shot a location specific specific special? Need to check the description next time in game. It might just still have that name because it do blind but might be random location. Specials like head shot should hit head only though. Need to test that.

Specials like head hit/shot, body shot, leg shot are all zone oriented.

There was a time in Test where mixing armor was providing odd results in regards to actual resists for the hit zone, not sure of the status of that atm. Due to the bug going live at the time it was widely accepted that mixing armor types did not provide the intended results.

There are a few good layer combos above, but remember the disclaimer about the diminishing returns on resists mentioned in one of those combos. As for layered vs unlayered costs...well, sometimes thats the price you pay for pulling certain templates.
