Thread: Can someone explain 'refitting' to me please...?

Now, I personally thought that refitting was what I did when I had a pre-cu set of armor - I could choose a radial option to change it to post-cu armor and whatever style I want.... however, someone that I trust and consider a friend in game has offered me a set of RIS that is apparently 'refittable', meaning that it is pre-cu, but can be reverse engineered, reclaiming all the parts, and then rebuilt by an armorsmith...

Now, before you say it, it's not a scam, because he is a cool guy - and because he isasking peanuts for it, literally (especially considering it hasopen socketed boots and gloves)- but I personally haven't ever come across this... was just wondering if any of you Armorsmith people might be able to enlighten me?

With regards the 'conversion' refitting I initially mentioned.... I know that on my alts set of armor when I logged in after the cu I wasn't given RIS as a refit option for Battle... (It was 35 Stun/75 Base Composite andI refitted it to 5.5kish Padded) - am I to assume that if I have a pre-cu set of RIS then I can in fact refit it to still be RIS? That's how I'm thinking this is going to work but I don't want to keep telling my bud that I don't have a clue what he's talking about because I hate to sound like I'm completely brain-dead. ^_^

i dont know if you can refit ris, if you can im certain you cant refit it to RIS, but only to the 6 common armor types, chitin, comp, ubese, mabari, padded, bone.

Ris however can be "reclaimed" that is you can reclaim your RIS segment, which is the part that requires the three RIS loot components. With those segments an armorsmith can make you a new set of ris at the cost of a regular suit of armor.

Thanks Poti... I see.... so essentially what I'll be doing is buying a suit to reclaim it to save me the hassle and money of having to go around collecting all the RIS loot?

From my experience and from the four pairs of pre CU RIS boots and one pair of pre CU RIS gloves I have, you cannot refit OR break down RIS boots and gloves. You can break down all the other RIS pieces to get an RIS segment. I can't see any reason why you would WANT to refit RIS when you can get a segment out of it that is worth 500k to 1 million (depending on server). As for socketed RIS boots, well, those are a rare thing and will become more valuable as time passes.

Correct. You get an RIS segment that you combine with battle cores, Talusian fiberplast, and chromium aluminum to get a new piece of RIS. You're stuck with the boots and gloves as they are, though.

No refit option for me. Just checked in game. Must be exclusively for Trandos since you can't wear them anyway. They would SO do that to you.
