Hi

I have just had my first attempt at making high end composite armor , and was hopeing i could get an opinion on if it's any good or not , the stats are as follows :

Composite armor chest plate

Condition 34848

2 Sockets

Special Protection

Kinetic 65%

Electricity 66%

Energy 66%

Effectivness

Blast 55%

Heat 55%

Cold 55%

Acid 55%

Encumberance

H 279

A 126

M 86

I know it isnt the highest stats , as a few of the resorces were hard to get in good quality , but if someonecould give me an idea of how much these are worth it would be a great help

Thanks

Try using 3 layers, and experimentting on the middle bar first, then the top bar, then come back and ask us how much the pieces you've made ar worth, because right now, those aren't worth a whole lot. Make sure you're using advanced composite segments as well.

Yeah, another thing you can do, is experiment the middle bar then the top on the layers first, then make your armor segment and piece the same way like stated above. Then make another glove, but this time take enough points from the layers to add the % you need to the special to hit 80% Kinetic. (ie. You have 76% Kinetic 58% base first time... Next gloves you make put some points into the special resist on one of the layers to add 4% higher than what you had. So if your layer was 4% Base 4% Kinetic, take points out of the top bar and put them in the bottom bar to make it 4% 8%.)

This will give you 80% Kinetic which will make your armor much more desireable.

You can get 80% Kinetic witha triple layer keeping the the Kinetic layers at 4/4 (being 4% base 4% resist). Your resource make up is really the question here.

Experiment on Quality on your kinetic layers... depending on your resources you should be able to get it into the 88-90% range.

Then in the Adv Comp seg, again pound quality as high as you can, then throw one into Durability.

Creating the Armor..... hit Quality again, last point throw into Durability, it will throw your Kinetic to 80% if it's not already there.

Again, this depends on your resources. Also I'm a 12 point so I know I have a couple extra points then you do, but those extra points are always used to reduce HAM not get the resists up.

65% Kinetic simply won't sell. If you have crap resources and wish to make composite, try stacking in a blast layer or a heat layer (focusing on Base), then have all the armor Master Sliced, you'll get quit e few good base slices out of it and be able to sell them for good cash. The Encumb slices won't sell too well due to the fact the Kinetic and Energy aren't good, but it's good nOOb armor.

not to hijack the thread, but I think Im having a similar problem.

I can make 80%kinetic comp pretty easily using 3 kinetic layers, but whenver I try to use an energy layer and two kinetics, I get that kind of 65% kinetic/elect/energy resists... I keep reading its possible to get 80% kinetic with only two kinetic layers but after about 30 tries, I don't think I'm able to get there. I am using pretty good resources and not even getting close.

Hey thats pretty good.

When I was a novice I used electricity layers. I experimented as high as I could to reduce the encumb on the layers and then put the rest into the middle bar (which bumps up the base resistance)

Since I used electricity layers all my stats remained in the base resistance (i.e. electricity was the only special resistance) This way I was able to slice my armor and I would end up with kinetic/energy/acid/heat/blast/cold etc.. in the mid 70's and high 60's (now 90's and mid 80's hehe because i have good resources)

Get some Janta hide if you can this bumps up the base resistance on your armor by 3-4%

good luck!

have you tried putting an experimentation point into rezistance on the final product? i was having a strange bug where my kineitc would sit around 68% if i didnt max out the base experimentation... but if i put 1 point into the resistance it woudl just from 68% to 80%... the same effect also happens if i max out the base (so it would go form 64 base 68 kinetic to 65 base 80 kinetic).

PS. i think that the resources that you are using arent the best things, seeing as i can get 55% base from an un-layered pece of composit. are you experimenting all of the lairs to 4% base, the working on the resistance? that is usauly the best way to go, and if yo uare a 12 point smith you should be able to get 4/10 lair.

I've tried putting a few points in resistance, yes. It does seem to have a notch where it bumps up the kinetic resist, but even with that I cannot get the kinetic over 70% with only two kinetic layers. Would it be better to try to put a bunch of points into resistance in the kinetic layers or try to get base out of them?

This morning I tried to make some comp with 3 kinetic layers with 4base 5kinetic (going off memory so might be wrong) and I got the kinetic resist on the comp segment to 16. With that, I couldn't for the life of me get the kinetic resist on my experimental gloves above 70. I can easily get the 80% if I put more effort into the resistance of the kinetic layers and ignore the base, but then I get crappy base resists in my comp.

My resources are not the best, mostly in beyrillius and wooly hide, the rest are top-shelf. Maybe I am just stuck making utter crap until I can get ahold of some better copper and hide.

Hiarchicial order of importance for composite

Intrusive Ore/Solid Petro
Aluminium (Switch with Naboo Fiber for comp gloves)
Naboo Fiberplast
Beyrllius copper/Wooly Hide

Ignoring base in your pursuit of 80% Kinetic is IMO the wrong method... In my 80% Kinetic I do not experiment the Kinetic Resist on the layers at all (mind you this might not be possible w/ your resources)... I spend 6 of my points on the durability/ham and 5 on the base (Experimented for Amazings) for layers in the 3.38-3.58% Base 5.5-6.3 ham range... My segments Finish up @ 31.4% Base w/ 13.3% Kinetic... Final armor piece is 67.2% Base 80.5% Kinetic with hams in the lower 40's (for gloves)...

If you are wondering about how the resists come out to 3.38% its that the game takes the undisplayed % (3.38% appears as 3%) into account even tho you can't see it... I got tired of guess work on this and found on these boards a highly functional spreadsheet to forecast resists (which I have since modified)... Its not QUITE accurate on ham and actual experiment % but its close enough for my uses... For example on my spreadsheet it tells me I can experiment my segment to 84% quality but when its actually crafted it winds up 83%... This is only a rounding error in the display as testing with 83% (4 amazing 4 great) is different than 83% (5 amazing 3 great)...

If you wish a copy of the spreadsheet (excel) send in-game email to tempest.lemy w/ email address and I'll email a copy of it (sorry bout this but I don't host a website)

there is a limit on how hight hte base special resistance can be in relation to the base, it is usauly someware from 20 to 25%, so if you have a 55% base you wont be able to go past 70 or 75% special. if you put a point into speical on the final pece and it dosent go up any higher than you are at the limit. more sure that you get those 4% base lairs, and experment on the base% for the segment (seeing as you cant up the kinetic until you start on the pinal product). i usauly end up with 32% base, 10 elect and 18 kinetic lairs. and for the final i get 64% base (65 in a research center) 75 elect and 80 kinetic (my kinetic caps at 80 prity quickly, so i could probably use some other lair and only 2 kinetic, but for now it gets the job done. just make sure to max out the base on the lair, the segment, and final product, then hit the special with the rest of your points.

if you are trying to do your own calculations all you need to do is know what a 100% experimentation would yeald. for the lairs it is 5% base, 15% speical, not sure about the hams. the adv composid segs are (un-laired) 25% base, and the final product is (not absolutly sure) 40% base. so what you need to do is experment on your lairs, and remember the results, so if you had an 84% base expermintation lair, and you used 3 of them, then had an 80% base on the segment, than had anathor 80% base on the product you would have:

0.84*5, *3 = 12.4 for the 3 lairs

+0.8*25 =+20 for the segment = 32.4

+0.8*40 = +32 for the final product = 64.4% base
