How does one open the *.tre files (with what program)? Also how is one able to read the data from patches? What program is used to open those files and where are they stored as well?

I'm a master Armorsmith, and when I was crafting last night making composite gloves with krayt scales, I was under the assumption that I would get either higher special protection or base protection but I didn't get any of them. I got all very good experimentation results and I used fairly high OQ/SR resources for most of my ingredients. Yet my stats where still the same as before with stats ranging in 80/79 special protection and 67% base. Now, the only difference this time was that all of the stats fell under the special protection catagory. If their is something special about that please mention it, and why.
Also are PSG"s bugged at the moment, cause when ever I activate my psg, it seems like it doesn't loose condition during pvp. So im assuming it's not being used upsince imnot using up condition. I finally got some condition used up yesterday during 1 pvp after me deactivating then activating but it doesn't work all the time. Is their a special way of activating them that I don't know about. Plz repond with your idea.
Finally, I want tomake the Imperial PSG Prototype. I heard that in order to get the schematic for that PSG, you would need to go and see a doctor in Dantooine (Imperial Outpost) and get 3 quest missions from the doctor. Im assuming NPC, now I did that but their was no doctor their. I heard that anyone can attain the schematic only it's limited in factory production. But their is no one to talk to aboutgetting these missions.
Can anyone please help me out with this. I'm really confused on these 3 question guys. Please help out, cause I know their are many of you who really know the game so im counting on you guys to help out. And yes I want fries with this shake.

Imperial PSG schematic can only be acquired by covert or declared factoin members of the imperial faction.
And as for krayt scales, it increasese by 4% or so but it goes into special prot. So base cannot be sliced.

His name starts with a X, And he's in the cloning center in the Imp Outpost, you cant miss him.

Krayt scales aren't much use in composite. Put them into wookie armor, you'll get better results. Use jantaa hide or nightsister shards in composite.

Ok, thnx guys, so far you guys have been great! Now, Im a Rebel. Can i do the (Imp psg prototype) quest to achieve the schematic. IfI cannot, what shouldI do to get the schematic. Do I have to have a imp go and do the mission for me and have him trade the schemtic to me? hmm,I think that might be the only case. Yet, i'll leave it up to you guys. Give me your opinion, im sure it will be a valid one. Also, what is the difference stat wise between the (MK3) and (Imp PSG Prototype). Are they fairly the same or is one better then the other. Thnx.

krayt scales will put almost everything in special protection.
Special protection is maxed at 80% (afaik).
special protection cannot be sliced.
Krayt scales in compo, bad idea.
On the PSG in PvP :
PSG only work against armor piercing 0, if someone is using a weapon with armor piercing 1 or higher : PSG is not used.
Basically, PSG in PvP is usefull against fencer and pistoleer (they often use AP0 stun dmg weapon). Almost everything else : a belt is more usefull.
Dunno if it's a bug or itended, but it's how it works.

Also PSG's have a stupid long standing bug where the system essentially forgets they are there when you cross server boundaries. You have to unequip and reequip them before each fight to make sure they are working.
