First thanks for reading this!

I'm a master armorsmith who usually only makes armor for friends and guild mates. We have a number of wookies who would like some of the racial armor made and I've been dabbling a bit with the various types, but mostly just stocking up on the resources I will need, since they all take components that I have never bothered to stock before.

My question is this. What layering layout would you suggest to make a good suit? 80% Kinetic is of course the goal, as these suits would be used almost exclusively in PvE. Is it possible to get any of the armor types to 80% using less than 3 layers of kinetic? For reference, my current kinetic layers are 13% kinetic, 2% base, 12/12/13 HAM cost, 520 integ. Since I have never mass produced armor for sale, I am not as familiar with how the base and special of a layer carries over to the segment and then the final piece, but I do understand the segment doesnt need to be 80%.

Also, with the 3 different types of armor, what are the strengths and weaknesses of each? Should I, or can I, attempt to make 80% ceremonial? Or is that type of result only available to the hunting variant? I like the Black Mountain armor looks the best, but I must make sure to get the best pieces possible without a killer HAM cost.

I've read the various armor guides in the forums, but none of them seem to cover how wookie armor works, and what the best method is for making it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hunting and Black Mountain are both easy to get 80% kinetic on. Kinda like getting 80% elect in comp. For example, I get 80 kin using 3 stun layers. Don't ask me why. I don't get any enjoyment out of trying to figure out the "behind the scenes" math, so don't bother.

It's going to take quite a bit of time to experiment with layers, as there are no pieces that take only 1 segment. So, you're going to have to make a few factory runs of layers and segs to see what you get. Make sure to label these so you can tell what you did.

I wish I could be more helpful. You're just going to have to experiment with a few recipes.

I viewed it as a challenge to see what I could come up with. I've been considering specializing in it, but comp will probably always be a cash cow.

what is the base on your hunting armor?

just subtract base from 80 to see what you need to do. remember you can potentially boost kinetic by 20% on the segment alone (at the expense of no extra condtion and/orlower encumbrance)

if you had near perfect resources id bet you could get unlayered hunting to 80% kinetic 58-60% base

I sell 80% kin 80% energy 71% base hunting, it sells pretty briskly. My next run I will probably swap out one of the three energy layers for a stun layer to give minimum stun protection (fill the vulnerability).

Furia, Kavala, Xana, Tarantella (Xana's alt, before NGE), all cancelled.(3 accts total)

My Wookie Hunting is 80% kin, 69%base. I get it by using the same layers thatI use for composite armor. 4% base 4% kin.

I get that by experimenting on base, and then encumbrance when base is finished.

I've been using 1 Kinetic @ 4/7 and 2 Energy @ 4/7 to get 80/80/63 suits.I think I might be over doing it though and am curious on the stats you guys are getting for your Hunting segments.

Can anyone tell me what the segment stats are on your 70% base Hunting armor and what layers you use?

for me at least, its not the segment that makes the difference, its the armor padding

try using blast/energy/stun layers and tweaking the segment to 14% kinetic.... quad special with 66-70 base is sweet with an encumbrance slice

Single light 80% Kinetic:

I bet you could get to 80% kinetichunting armor with 3x kin layers with 2/2/2 or 3/3/3 ham. Thats a nice light suit.

I dont have any trouble getting 80% kin 55% base with 2/2/2 layers and my resources arnt all that great.

The mind on the chest is like 368 or there abouts.

Using only one heavy layer is not any good because it will be heavier then doing it this wayand the base will be a joke in comparison.

So at least for Hunting armor you really dont need to modify your resists in your layers like you might in composite to reach the Max special resist.

Inorganics and the hides you use will have the biggest impact on your armor. You dont have to wait until the wood and bone is good before making viablewookie stuff.
