Hey there, I've always wanted to be an armorsmith, But never really wanted to drop any combat skills, So now that i've opened my second slot I've decided to try and become an armor smith, My question is- Do you need top of the line rare resources to get decent armor? Or can u use like good (but not great) resources and make armor that will sell?

To make the very best you do need the very best. BUT: that doesn't mean you can't make very good armour that will sell very well using good stuff. In fact, don't be surprised if you can out-sell the uber-crafters simply by marketing yourself better and pricing your items appropriately.

Also, IS having the extra 2 experimentation points a must? I plan on getting it in the future, But right now I cant afford it.

12pt smiths definitely have an edge over us 10 and 11 pt smiths. I agree with the above post. a 10point smith can make just as many credits as a 12 pt. Most 12 points will have an edge on some armor (like RIS), however I do rather nicely market wise. I will run specials, discounts, barters, you name it. I find the more friendly and willing to negotiate you are, the more money will come to you. People talk!

Besides the armor, your shop is a big deal also, I was doing ok in a remote player city on tatooine, but once I placed my vendors near a starport (mine is on dant), my sales flew through the roof. just an FYI, location has increasted my sales 500%.

There are markets for us all. I sell high quality, high priced armor and the shops around me sell just slightly lower quality, but at a much lower price. They prob sell a lot more pieces, but over all make the same in credits.

Now the definition of quality differs too. Just because an AS make comp with 69% base and smiths like me make 72% base, doesn't really mean much to most buyers out there. That 3% can save a customer thousands, which makes most wonder why to even bother with high quality. But I cater to those that do care about that 3%. Everyone has there needs.

12pts does make a difference. We get most of the custom RIS buisness. If you spend all that time getting the components, you want to make sure they are used for the best armor possible. That extra 2 points also allows you to make lighter armor in most cases.
