Greetings,

I am not an armorsmith but I am a customer. I have serveral questions about armor that the armorsmiths I talk to can not answer for me. First of all can you change the color of armor? I have a full chitin suit right now and was wondering if chitin armor could be made all black. What is the armor that you see on NPC slicers and can it be made? What is the first suit of armor that has a closed face helmet? Are there armor pieces that are slotted and if so what can you put in these slots? Thanks.

Heh, we could only wish...

As far as I know, only clothing can be color-costomized.

I'd love to see the high-end armors in custom colors. Bone should stay as is, Mabari is debateable, but Chitin and above would be great ! It would also give the armorsmiths much more items to sell, without really adding anything! Many people would love black armor, and I could imagine 1 or 2 people who would enjoy having each piece a different color, just to confuse people...

Yeah it would be great, so I can stop telling no to the same person who keep asking me to make orange padded for him. How understandable is "Armor color aren't customizable."? Cause saying it 4 times, the same person would still ask why wouldn't you make me a set of orange armor... /addignore <insert orange armor lover name>

In the few weeks I have been a master 'smith I have made 3 runs of armor.

  • 80% Electric 65% Base

  • 80% Kinetic 62% Base very low HAM (563/489/566)

  • 39% Stun 65% Base

I am quite happy with what I've produced so far. Obviously I have a lot of room for improvement on those suits. But nontheless, I'm pleased. I sit down this morning with my coffee in hand, open up AS little helper and start playing with resources for a 80%Kin/Elec/Energy suit. Then it hits me. Why would someone want those particular resists in special?? (I'll expand soon) Which led me to thinking about blast, and acid, and everything. In what circumstances would someone want those resists??

If people aren't in the market for low HAM (the kinetic suit) or PVP armor(the stun suit) then you would think that the only other suit that people would be after would be a heavy armor that, with slicing, they can push as many resists as possible over 80 and towards 90%. Why would I buy a suit with 80%Kinetic and 80%Energy and 80% Electric when I could just buy a suit that has the 80%Electric and then hope a good slice gives me a better resist on the other categories. I don't see suits other than the 80%Kinetic being for PVE/grinding.. If I'm doing the corvette, I want big resists. I'm hunting NS's I want big resists. I'm out with the guild killing krayts. I want big resists.

Even as a new smith, I recognize the artistry involved in creating a large variety of armor. Different resists, different HAM's. All that fun stuff. But I can't for the life of me figure out why I should bother crafting anything else!!

Now that I'm at the end of my rant. I'm realizing their isn't a real point to this. I wouldnt' say I'm writing out of frustration. But it just doesn't make sense to me. I really don't see any reason to craft anything other than those 3 suits. At least composite wise.

it is for people too lazy to slice, or too lazy to buy multiple peices to slice

sells well

I've had great success with my 80 kinetic/blast/electricity with 8 stun for nightsisters and 80 kinetic/energy/electricity with 9 stun for corvette, DWB, and faction farming.

Try making 80% kinetic 50K condition stuff. It's fustrating and rewarding at the same time.lol I've been making 5% stun 71% base 80% electricarmor for quite sometimes now. I haven't made any high base 80% kinetic armor in a very long time. With the ability to slice kinetic up to 90% dunno why people are still making 80% kinetic stuff. For a range person who's hunting High end MOBs 80% is somtimes very iffy. 90% kinetic pretty much guarantees you from dying while you are dizzy and lying on your back.

I've been wondering the same myself. That 80% kinetic sells well though. People looking for low HAM usually like the 80% kinetic.

multi 80 base suits are perfect for the hunter that A. goes through armor and B. doesn't have to to make sre they have a smuggler available. It's great for keeping crated suits in a droid.

other then that, the best armor IMO is 28-30% stun 70+ base. Its easy to get 90% base and still allows a nice protection from stun attacks. high base electric is great but leaves a glaring hole in stun. If you can't get the abse high enough however it seems rather pointless in terms of slicing.

My best sellers are in order as follows.

80x4 (80 acid,elcetricity,kinetic, and energy. 71 Base)

80/80/9 (80 kinetic and energy 9 stun 70 base)

29/70 (29 stun 70 base)

NS Bane (80 blast and kinetic 70 base)

Krayt Tank (80 kinetic low ham)

PvP (40 stun 67 base)

Or you cnas just click this link in the sig for a mroe detailed list.

While grinding for jedi and whenever i switch proffesions i always got 80 kinetic comp because im too lazy to slice it because of all the peices and how hard it is to find a smuggler
