Hita Folks,
So I just, finally, got my first piece of Comp together. The steel isn't fantastic, 650+, but outside that, all topnotch materials were used. My question is about getting base up. My comp chestpiece came out at 72 electric, 80 Kinetic, and 59 Base. From looking at others comp on my server, I see I am roughly out about 5% on electricity and about 7% out on base. I am wondering if I am missing a fundamental step here to get that last 5%-7%.
Materials and process. I used 3 2% base 13% kinetic layers in the seg with an 8 point exp in base and the last 2 in special to give me roughly 27 base, 27 kin, and I can't remember the electric. On final assembly of the chest, with these segs, I got the above numbers, again with 8 points to base and 2 to special.
If any one could make any suggestion, that would be great. To be prewfectly honest, I'm still not quite seeing how all these relationships work and I do have printed copies of some of the manuals here in the forum. I am slowly reading and experimenting as I go. As I said, any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks all, have fun.

Ok, I think this is a big mistake with most beginnig AS. I started out with similar resources to what you are describing and I didn't have to put any point into special resistance. Make a pair of gloves but this time:
On the kinetic layers - max out the base (middle bar) and put anything left over in durability (top bar). Don't put anything into the special bar unless your starting kinetic is less than 4%. The math should work out to give you 80% Kinetic in your final piece.
Advanced Segment - max out base (middle bar) and put at least 1 point into special (bottom bar)if you have left over (this will help ensure the 80% Kinetic 80% Electric in the specials).
Try this out on a pair of gloves since they require no factory made components.
If this doesn't work, tell us what your %s are before you experiment... then we can go from there. I also suggest getting the "AS little helper", which I don't have a link to right now... I'll look for it later and post it if no one else does first.

Well how do ya like that Doro. 78 electric, 80 kinetic, and 65 base. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge.
Next questions. Is this a principle applicable to all armor or is comp special because base experimentation cause both base and special to change? Also, in your experience, is 65% base the max given certain resources or can you squeeze a little more out before you get into Janta jides and such?
I don't expect you to give away yer trade secrets, this little bit has helped enormously, and gives me new ideas on experimenting. Also, I do have AS Helper, just hadn't gotten into the nuts and bolts yet.
Thanks tons Doro

This is the crafting approach really for comp only. With Ubese, the base is soo low there is no reason to try and raise it. When crafting it, max special on layers and segs. Put the rest points wherever.
Also about the base on your comp, If you are able to max out the base on your layers, segs and final (saving one point in final combine for HAM) then thats the max you can get without enhancements. To raise the base higher is just a matter of getting better resources, having 12pts wouldnt even help.

Thanks to you to Govo. That was the approach I had been taking with other armors. Good to know I was on the right track. Just making sure. The better resources I figured but good to have that confirmed as well. It'll be nice to see what happens when I get some 900+ in OQ and SR together
Thanks
