Hello,

I have read, re-read, printed out and read, and re-read the stickies.

I am using resources with Oq/Sr of 930+ on both stats and this is the best layer I have made so far with 12pts.

8% kin 4% base 14/14/14 386Integrity.

What am I doing wrong?

The guide says I need to hit 10%Kin in order to craft 80% Kin Comp??

Any help or tips would be appreciated.

For triple layerd comp, you just need to max out the base and dump the rest into encum. Don't try to add anything to the special unless you are trying to make a quad or triple 80 suit.

If your resources are as good as you say, you should have no problems hitting 80% kinetic with 80% elec and a high base.

Ok,

So when I put these layers into a segment, I bring only the base up first, then HAM? Leave specials to the final combine?

Or should I destroy this layer schematic and make a new one ?

Sorry for sounding stupid, but it is a hard profession...i have been fooling around crafting things for a couple of weeks, and am trying to get going, hehe.

Assuming you are trying to make 80% Kinetic with a high base resist (which, from the stats of your initial layer, seems likely), you should just focus on the base resist all the time. 8% kinetic on the layers should be massive overkill for getting 80% Kin, if your base is high enough. I think my low-HAM kinetic layers are 7% Kin, 2% base, and I still get 80% Kinetic on the finished piece, with only 62% base. Just max out the quality on the segments, then put the rest into durability (as you describe).

When you craft the armour piece itself, max out the quality again, then put remaining points into durability. You MUST do the quality first - it seems that the kinetic resist is worked out the first time you experiment on durability. So, if you do the durability before the quality, you get your kinetic resists from the segmentsadded to your unexperimented base. If you do the quality first, you get the kinetic resists added to the improved base, and should easily hit 80%.

The more experienced smiths should be able to give you more specific advice, if you list your stats for the segments and the final armour pieces that you're producing. Or have you held off making some actual pieces, because you're worried the stats aren't good enough? If that's the case, just make a few segments, then make some gloves (only one segment needed, so no need for factory runs) and see what stats you get.

I think that nails it pretty good!

A very easy way to think of it is that if your base gets to 68% the 12%kinetic from the layers (with those resources you should have 4% kinetic at the start) gets added to that to get you to the 80% kinetic you want.

The best way is make test layers/segments/gloves , make it until you understand how it works. If you want low - HAM kin, you need something like 2% base/6% kin layers (put rest points on HAM). For hight base kinetic try to make layers this way: max base, then enc; make segment and a pair of gloves and see what you get. If you need to add some% to kin you can correct 1 layer but if you have good res. 4% kinetic is ok ( it gives you 12% or more, so if youcan get 67-68%base+12%= 80%kin)

If you're using 3Kin Layers then just leave the Special resistance as it is on the layer when you experiment. Make three layers by hand and then go all the way through the process and make a pair of comp gloves.

Try making 1 layer with 3% resistance then the other 2 with 4%, see how that works out in the final build.

See how that works out then tweak it. Most people I've found are more than happy with 65% base resists so in that instance you can lower the HAM costs considerably giving them a decent amount of resistance at a very reasonable encumberence. The higher resistance you go the higher the HAM cost. You could try taking your layers down to 2/2/2 HAM to start with and then building up from there and see if you can make a killer suit of lo-HAM variety.

On Bria it is possible to hit 73% resistance on Base. To do this you have to max out resistance on the layers and the rest of the points go directly in to HAM costs. It's a heavy suit no doubt about it but it is a beautiful thing.
