Got a king gurk hide this morning but i thought id share my experiences with anyone else trying to track down this component -
2 static spawns on Lok
700, -3300
-3762, -3467
at these points there are monuments, one a temple one a hut, kings spawn here about every 2-3 hours (i know this has been said before just a recap)

another way to find kings is the nests- i find these around the static spawns and also on the road between the 2. only NESTS with gurks surrounding them seem to spawn kings and i have deduced that there are 2 types of nests, i like to name them ferals and welps.
Welp nests - and nest with a welp around them is not too dificult, they spawn alot of gurks, but noithing bigger than an average gurk or tracker, when the nest is about to blow a king may spawn.
Ferals - only advise heavy swords or TKM to take these on, maybe a concealed rifleman or a group. as a TKM myself i can solo these but they spawn alot of gurks. get buffed, brandy and moun, clear the initial defenders then tap the lair once. take down the gurks as fast as u can, there is no respite one they start to spawn any thing uptoo 50 gurks, and im serious. once the spawn is about to pop expect anything - last time i got 4 gurk destroyers and the king.
hope fully that will help u not getting caught un awares, never take a nest lightly, anything could happen 
also when looking for GDK, i found a pile of bones, out side it was ;
a GIANT kimo
and a DUNE kimo

Maybe if you had waited long enough the kimo's would have combined.

What is the HAM / resists on a gurk king?
Looking for something interesting to hunt as a fencer

Also, i live on lok so you would have to drive far to drop them off... go on, you know you want to

Well if everyone is having luck like me you will have 10 times as many of the gurk hides, bone frags, feathers as you do the GDK scale. Funny thing is now that they made it so the random spawned GDK will OCCASIONALLY drop a scale you can never find any 
Oh well, keeping it rare is the purpose I guess. As a crafter I don't have the time to be constantly be searching and I guess I will just have to be patient.
Good luck and pray to Yoda that when you do find a GDK that you are able to take him down and he drops
