when i do kinetic layers they are 4base, 6kinetic (segments end up 32base, 20kinetic)

are there other layers around where the base resist can go above 4?

Nope.

Theoretical maximums (with 100% experimentation) is 5% base and 15% special resist for every layer

actually lomar, i think that 4% base is the maximum. I realized this when i once experimented on a segment and got it to exactly 50% and it stayed at a 2% base rating. so semms like to get a 5% segemnt we would need over 100%

Im pretty sure that the max is 5% as well, but in order to hit it you would need perfect resources (1000 OQ/SR).

For the Highest Base Percentage, I always use either Electric or Energy Layers, I can consistantly get my pieces to 72-73% Base without using enhancers and only having 10 experimentation points...

Of course it all depends on your servers resources...

I made some 5% base kinetic layers on patch day (when they tweaked the crafting results based on quality) and I also made some that were 0/0/0 HAM that same day. I didn't make any schematics though, wish I did. I'm sure someone out there did.

Personally I think that 4.5% base resist is the maximum at 100% quality.

Base resist = 0.04 x Quality + 0.5 %

Quality Base resist Rounded to

0% 0.5% 1%

25% 1.5% 2%

50% 2.5% 3%

75% 3.5% 4%

100% 4.5% 5%

This hypothesis is based on 35 measurements and the assumption that there is a linear relationship between quality and base resist.

Absolute maximum today is 4.99% (4% displayed, basically 5%)

It was possible to hit 5% displayed on the patch day due to the way experimentation worked for that one day, however I dont think its possible now - but theoretical maximum is 5%

And this is based on what? Data? Wishes? Dev info? Is there any reason to believe that 4.99% will be displayed as 4% rather than 5% (rounded down)? If not, I stick with my hypothesis (based on data and the linearity assumption)that 4.5% is the theoretical max (displayed as 5%).

I can prove the maximum is 5% because of the following...

using my best resources I can make 20% un layered adv segments, now I added three blast layers I had experimented to 93% and using the same resources ended up with a 34% segment.

The above shows my layers were at least 4.66 base (that should be hit at 92%) but they still display as 4% in the stats (they are NOT rounded up). It also shows I am exactly on track to hit 5% at a perfect 100% experimentation.

Try this yourself if you doubt me...

Thanks for your example! Ok since numbers seem to be rounded down (the assumption I didn't consider), the relation between quality and base resist must be:

Base resist = 0.04 x Quality + 1%

For 100% quality this gives base resist = 5%.

Similarly for special resists:

Special resist = 0.14 x Resistance + 1%

For 100% resistance, the special resist maxes at 15%.

This is what I believe is still the maximum. Of course you need 1000 for the right stats to be able to obtain this now, but I did make some schematics on patch day that were up to 100% experimentation which got me the 15% special and 5% base.

The good news is usually if you are using layers that when using more then one you do get the benefit of those hidden decimal points (4.34X3=13.02 or 4.67X3=14.01). For this reason I don't think you could actually combine to get the 15% base seeing how it seems to display the rounded down number, unless you were lucky enough to do it on patch day. Good luck in getting there now

so basically....the layer you use doesnt matter

but you should make the layer that requires the resources that have the highest oq/sr that you can procure

thanks for the info, and continue with the thread hyjacking
