Hey fellow armorsmiths. I just got armorsmith last night. I have all the required resources to make just about anything an armorsmith can make, and I have a few questions on what to experiment on in layers and segments to get high base resists. A friend of mine told me that as long as I have 4% in each layer, I'm good, and I made a 28% base resist electrical segment. But when I made a comp chestpiece, the base resists were at 62% with maximum experimentation. Just wondering if that's common or not. I'm not trying to make the best armor in the world, just some good stuff that my guild and friends can abuse when they need armor.
Also, do the armor experimentation and assembly tapes really make a difference if you have +25 total on each?

There are hidden decimal places in all stages of crafting. Your layers are actually 1%+4%*(percent quality after experimentation/100) so a 95% quality layer is .8% base higher than a 75% quality layer. Same sort of hidden decimals with segments, max quality experimentation at all stages for the best base resists in your final armor piece.

Sounds like you need better segment resources. I throw together 4% base layers (94%) and get 34% (90%) segments for 70% base armor. Even small increases in the OQ and SR of your segment materials (especially the colat) will produce large gains in resistance.

/agree.
I just tried out my new intrusive OQ=985, SR=918 vs. my old OQ=902, SR=620 and got a 3% increase in base, with the same resources for everything else.
