I have to admit, armorsmith was my Holo profession. But as I got into it i realized what a great pro. it was. I'm now a master armorsmith and I really want to get into the business. Im sure for many of you, your first response to this post will be,
"We all figured it out, its something you just have to do yourself."
Plz there is so much I don't know, I know I didn't put the time into armorsmith while grinding but I'm willing to do that now, so plz don't shun me.

Resources! grinding has made me very poor, but I have managed to collect small amounts of comp resources with which I have been experimenting on comp gloves working out the spending of points, whether on layers, segments, and the final build. I'm interested to learn how other AS's manage their resources, Do you harvest your own? do you buy most. How do you keep track of resources spawns and keep up to date with the resources on...how every many planets their are.

Venders! I don't want any unessassry pro.'s so is merchant worth it? Right now I have scout/fencer/Armorsmith/artisan so my skill points are on the low side (15). Right now I have business III which allows me to place venders but after I "create vender" And it is place in my inventory, then dropped on the ground how to I fill it with stuff, I initialize it, useing the radial dial, but if I double click on the vender it tells me hes not initialized.

Good spots to start a shop? This may be a matter of preferance, or a "trade secret" I should learn for my self, but I'm just looking for ideas or suggestions on what you have all found to be good places.

Advertising! How? Can droids yell messages? I seem to remember them being able to do that but I haven't seen it recently, was it Nerfed? How do you guys go about it, looking for ideas or suggestions on what has worked for you in the past.

Thank you for your time, and patience with me.

I've found that most of the time needed to be a good armorsmith involves gathering quality components. I'd recomend getting survey 4, getting some good harvs and stockpiling all the HQ resources as they spawn (check swgcraft.com). When an uber spawn happens, mine it. Even if you don't need it yet. Its a process that takes months. But if you're in it for the long haul its a lot better than buying the top resources when you're desperate.

I'd also keep as much scout and hunting as you can. When a HQ spawn of hide comes out you'll be happy that you can get it yourself instead of having to buy it. Again this can take more than a few months to acquire high grade Leathery, bristly and the Wooly that you'll want to use for ubese and comp.

I also have tkm myself and for pve its great. Never have to join a group (other than solo) to hunt.

Biz 3 is a must unless you've got a merchant friend (they get 6 vendors).

Get to know a tailor well and give them a lot of business. It takes up too many skill points for me to grab enough tailor to make the synth cloth and reinforced fiber panels i need so I buy the stuff or when my friend is on I ask her to make me some. But if you've got extra skill points, might as well use them on this.

I think the shops that do the best business are the ones that people talk about. Word of mouth seems to generate much more business for me than location or advertising. Think about it, how many times have you paid attention to one of those yelling droids in the starports?

SWGcraft.com is your best friend, it would have been impossible for me to be a good armorsmith without it. The resource spawn information is invaluable, i check it everyday to see if something good i want has appeared.

I harvest my own resources, is much much cheaper than buying them. Surveying can be irritating, esp on rockly planets like tat (I like naboo for harvesting, nice and flat), but it saves me lots of money.

I have 3/0/0/0 in merchant purly for the planet map advertising. My shop is somewhat out of the way cause I liked the spot when I got my house back in august, and I relie on word of mouth and the map advertising for business. There are spam droids, but the batteries only last 1 hr. Do you pay attention to the spammers at the starport? Map advertising is a good way to attract customers at first, it uses the venders name, so name your vender something descriptive, you are much more likely to get people to come if you say what you have, as opposed to just saying "My armor shoppe." After a while, word of mouth becomes the biggert part, if you make good stuff, people will come back.

The initializing thing is a stupid bug, try making another new vender, its irritating I know.

I haven't experienceed that bug myself but there were many threads complaining about that on the artisan forums a bit ago, write a ticket and see what the CSR's have to say, we pay for the game, we shouldn't have to put up with crap like that.

did you initialize the vendor?

also if it never works you may have to get the npc vendor which is on novice merchant

also as it is now, you can do the vendor tree on merchant, place 6 vendors, then drop the skills and keep the vendors

this may change

Well I'll just let you know how I've done things to give you a small Idea if you wanna take any of it...

I joined a large guild on my server who I use for me to gather hides in exchange for really cheap armor, as well as having several large resource providers, which I can get various resources from them at any time (I really don't like going out to survey stuff)

Second I when I started I got 4 Wearables factories which I could then use to make triple layer composite, while feeding them into the segment factory to save some time...

Finally I am almost a master merchent (andI need every vendor I can get) I use 1 vendor for storage 4 for armor suits/ armor pieces/psg's 1 for resources...

As it stands it works out pretty well, I started a mall in the guild which is getting up and running and is p't stretty nice... however one thing I can't stress enough is location, right now the location for the guild mall is Dantooine, its out of the way, theres no reason for you to really go there so I have to do alot of advertising, word of mouth to get people out there, but then again the speed of my sales are nice, I dont have to worry about restocking my vendor every 2-3 days and I can actually relax at some points, now I do plan on sending an Armor Suits vendor to one of the malls on Naboo, which I hope will bring up sales somewhat...

Finally just need to add, you'll probably end up putting alot of your money back into Armorsmith when you first start out, I calculated i've spent between 15-20 mil in resources but I have most of the good stuff that has spawned over the last several months (with the exception of wooly hide)

Anyway thats me hope it helps some

the issue with the non merchant non initialising vendors almost seem like its a penulty for non merchants...just keep creating one, stik 1 credit in it after initialising. if it does not work, destroy and reapeat. 10 used to be the most i have every had to do. Get 3-0-0-0 in merchant, the advertsing rocks.

Some might disagree, but while your collecting good quality high end armor resources, get some medeocure standard resources and make some cheap (i was selling 500-800 a piece) mabari and chitchin armor on your vendor. Place a few bits of this armor, without waypoint in the items name on the bazaars in eisley, ah and maybe a few other hangouts for newer players. Its the newer players that geneally remember their early days very well, and if you make a good impression they will come back. I recntly got master myself, and already via word of mouth from new players i get 4-5 e-mails a day requesting armor to be made byme (i mastered 2 days ago.....).

Mine mine mine everything you can, but if you happen to find some cheap, semi good resources you NEED to finish off a suit, go run some janta missions for a quick bit of cash.

Hope this helps
