Hi there
Ive got one guy gathering hides for me and I am very grateful but it doesnt seem to be enough and its hard to get the best hides. Do you guys have a number of rangers working for you? Where do you go to buy high quality hide?
thanx in advance.

Thanks for your replies.
Ive looked through my trade forum (sunrunner) and have not seen people trading hides.
Have I just missed them?
Do you advertise that your buying hides and state the cpu?
What cpu do you buy hides for?
What amounts do you buy in?

For best results, follow swgcraft. When a decent hide pops, advertise that you are buying. State cpu, and what it drops from. Hides are very pricy. You are competing with doctors who are paying alot for avian. You also have to offer alot to get people off the freaking janta missions long enough to pull hides.

I use www.swgcraft,com to determine which hides I would like that have spawned in the past. Most like to just list a OQ+SR requirement, but I usually get a quicker response with aspecific name and stat.
List what you want in your auction forumsat a price you are willing to pay. The more you offer, the easier it will be to find what your looking for.

If you want hides you need to start posting on your trade forums that you are buying it at X price that is high enough to get people interested and hunting it for you. Keep bumping it throughout the shift and make sure yo uhave enough cash to buy all you get quickly, if you need take loans from friends or run survay missions if you dont have combat skills as those are still good cash from player cities.
Spam in the starports some as well as you need to get hunters to bring you stuff this first time anyway you can. Spread the word to al your friends to inform there guilds of your hide needs.
As people deliver the hide, meat, bone whatever you are buying to your vendor add them to your friends list with the caption Hunter in the notes and this becomes your ingame mail list for future spawns you need.
This first time be prepared to pay slighty more than you want to for the hide cause this cost is more than just for thos hides it is building good will and name recognition with these hunters that you will rely on in the future.
I am a fairly new smith but starting with a firm base in crafting with over a year now as a weaponsmith and then a resource horder extrodinare
and this has got me a extinsive list of hunters that realy coes through when i need although i still continue to spam in the starport some for the general shop exposure and looking for new hunters.

I have a great guild that helps in resource hunts for our members. This pulls in a LOT of hides in one night's work - the down side to organizing hunts this way though is that if you end up with something like correllian wooly (only small creatures drop it) - you won't get much of a turn out. Some just donate hides because they were grinding xp and knew I would like to have it. Just make sure to return the favor when your docs or bio engineersneedmeat or need a minable resource you collected (much easier to get than hunting).
The other thing I like to do is trade armor for resources - it keeps me in the smithing business and keeps customers happy (everyone saves their credits and I can keep my vendors stocked).
As a last resort, and only when I amabsolutely low on a particular hide (or bone), I'll go hunting by myself. I usually like to bring at least two other people with me to keep it social, becauseresource hunting can be SOOOO boring! The yields are so small when you are by yourself too - very little payoff hunting alone unless you are lucky to get a creature that dropsa larger amount of hide.
I never buy hides, because they are priced so high. 40 cpu for the current tat wooly would severely cut into my credits - I wouldn't be able to keep up buying hides for very long. The only way I would be able to pay for hides is to become a full time swg armorsmith and crank out tons of suits, advertise, and sell sell sell- so that I would have a huge amount of credits. Unfortunately, I have a life outside of swg and can't afford to do that
