Thread: Organizing your resources

I am getting to the point where I can't keep track of all my resources, and I'm looking for a better system of organizing them. Right now I have a storage vendor with a lot of bags with multiple bricks of the same resource in each, but it's kind of clunky. Anybody got a system that works well and is easy to find what you're looking for?

In my shop/crafting area i keep most of my first tier resorces for Composite..and Ubese in various different bags (one for the final..one for PSG's, one for layers..one for Ubese) in these i probably have a couple stacks of each resource..in my warehouses i keep extra stacks and older resources that are not quite on par with what i currently am using.. on my person (althoiugh often just sitting on the floor...) i have a bag with 100k of my resources I use continuously..just so i don't forget to bring something with me to the factory etc.. and so i don't have to go digging everytime i need something..

As well as keeping a spreadsheet of the resources...

I have about 30-40 travel packs... one for Intrusive, one for Solid Petro, one for Naboo Fiberplast and one for regular Fiberplast... one for generic Copper, one for Bey Copper, one for Polysteel Copper, and one for Mythra Copper now also... you get the idea. Whatever planet/subcategory specific resources that I use get a separate pack.

This has worked better than anything else I tried, as I just grab the packs I need for a run and pull out whatever resources I decide to use.

Hmm, I'm probably one of the mosta-n-a-l when it comes to resource & component storage, though it probably helps that I have a couple alts and a consortium of friendswho've all pooled our resources, lots, and storage issues. And I'm the man in charge of organization.

Among the 20-odd houses that comprise our little compound (13 characters make up this consortium, as an aside), we have twelve (12) houses that are officially designated warehouses, which we use for the following purposes:

  • High-Quality (HQ)Ferrous Metals

  • HQ Non-ferrous Metals

  • HQ Organics

  • HQ Chemicals, Gases, and Vapors

  • HQ Gemstones, Ores, SPFs

  • Bulk, Grind-Quality Minerals & Chemicals

  • Harvesters & Power

  • Component Crates

  • Looted Components

  • Miscellaneous Items, bulk purchases, etc.

The resource houses are filled with backpacks for each type of specific material that we keep in stock (ie, my Ferrous Metals house has separate backpacks for axidite, colat, dolovite, doonium, and kammris irons). They also, by and large, only hold 100K stacks, because the odd lots are in our crafting houses for easy access. Again, in my crafting house, I have packs for ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, ore/gem/SPF, organics, and chemicals/gases, as well as scattered crates of components. Throw in my shop, some random personal-use houses, and a bunch of factories, and you've got our compound, which serves my armor business, a specialty med/cm crafting operation, and a specialty weaponsmith.

It was rather time-consuming to set up, but it's made things incredibly easy for myself and my friends to find what we need, when we need it. The only stuff that isn't particularly well-organized at the moment is the looted component stocks, but that sounds like a good project for this weekend.

Edit: They **edit** the word "A-N-A-L"?? Yeesh.

I prefer using one of my vendors just tucked away in my warehouse for storage. I put everything on it for max sale price so that noone will buy it and if they do I just made more off it then I would have using it for armor. When I need specific components its easy to find and see the stats without having to look in different packs. Works for me anyway.
