When you get Master Armorsmith you have 10 experiment points.
If you buy enough clothing attachments (each +10 in tapes give you +1 in experiment points) you can become a 12 experiment point Master Armorsmith

its the number of experimentation points you have....regular smiths are 10point, you have to get +20 in armor exp tapes to get to be a 12point smith

And considering these tapes are not dropped very often +12 Armoursmith is a rare breed.
More curious than anything else, but what price do these tapes go for usually...2-3m each? So to get to a +12, thats roughly a 40m-60m outlay.

End up maxing with the same protection, but have 2 or 3 extra points to spend up on something like encumberance, am i right?

yup your right, although it's not all that a biggie, I'm only a 10 pointer and I do just fine.
Like it says above the extra points just go into enc which when you consider most people only hunt buffed, and thats when you need your armour its not worth becoming a 12 pointer unless you have storage houses overflowing with credits you dont need, because belive me these skill tapes cost a lot.
